Oil icon on camera screen

I just noticed an oil icon on my camera screen-only because it started flashing. I checked the dipstick; it was just to the add mark so I added a gallon of oil. The icon then went steady so I guess it's a low oil warning?

That's different. I guess if I was an automotive engineer I would've made the light come on the dash warning panel....silly me. I wonder if the add transmission fluid warning comes on the microwave!

Hi dlovitt,
That same thing happened to us. If you scroll down on the Triptek to engine maintenance and arrow foreword, you’ll see oil and generator or engine maintenance flashing. I’m almost sure its just an oil maintenance reminder. I cleared the oil flashing sign myself. If it had something to do with the coach I’m sure it would show up on the dash. (or Microwave) LOL JMO

That is a new one on me and nice to know, but it is a strange place to put it. What if the monitor is removed for repairs or turned off?

As for the oil being a gallon low, those that are new to diesels, that is common for the first 25,000 miles. On my 350 Cummins it stopped using oil at 26,000 miles like someone turn a switch, it stopped using oil. Do keep an eye on it for the first 25,000 miles until the rings seat. Some engines use more oil that others, it's normal.

My generator was due for it's first 50 hour service. Do you think that was it?

The ISX does hold 13 gallons of oil so 1 low didn't bother me all that much.

Nothing to get worried about, a gallon is like less than a quart in a car. Just wanted to let others that have never owned a diesel before, that it's not like a car and an eye does need to be kept on the oil for awhile.

But if the new models have all these warnings I guess the oil is checked for you. Still too much old school in me and I am learning all of the new features from posts like yours.

Yep, at around 10,000 miles my ISL was a gallon low. Now at 29,000 it hasn't used even a quart. Pretty cool.

That is excellent, my ISC was using a gallon in 1,000 to 2,000 miles for the first 10,000 miles.

The delivery driver from Entegra blew out a gallon in 1,300 miles, (he drove it like he stole it, 5.3 MPG showing on the computer) I made the same trip 2 months later and used no oil.
