Oil Servicing Cost -Speedco vs Cummins

Just had my annual oil change at Speedco in Jackson, MS today. Called 5 min prior, drove straight in. Done in 45 mins. Got 25 Qts of Mobil Delvac + oil filter + both fuel filters and chassis lube. Out the door for $235.00. Cummins wants $450-$500 for same service, and not nearly as quick.

Did they also change oil in your axles (12 mo./15k miles)?
Lube steering box
Fan on radiator?

Just curious

Had my yearly service done there as well a few months ago, Very convienent for me living only 25 minutes from the location. Quick in and out as you mentioned. Cost for me with Rotella was $202.00 with an Oil Analysis, but I had my own filters. They offered to let me in the "pit" and would have if I had brought a different pair of shoes. Pretty oily down there and didn't want to track it in the coach.

Pat, I have yet to find a lube fitting on the my hydrolic fan. Is there one that I am missing?

Another nice thing about Speedco is the price of spare fuel filters when getting service....$5.00 vs Cummins $35.

Chuck, don't believe there is a lube fitting on a hydrolic fan, as I could never find one either.

Glad it's not just me. I also don't have to worry (yet) about rear end service, Spartan just keeps changing the rear ends on mine.

I just checked Speedco site and they do do rear end service. https://www.speedco.com/en-us/the-sp.../lube-services

I have only been to one Speedco, but it sure beat my local Cummins dealer. For the price and quality materials, I won't be doing my own 15,000 mile service anymore.

Amazing state of grace with all your experience on this issue...

Chuck,

What I recall from the Spartan School, is that there is something that is supposed to be addressed on the cooling fan at each service interval. I won't be able to actually look at that for a couple weeks, so cannot advise further.

Pat, our next trip will be to Entegra, where I will ask that question. The subject has come up a few times and I have been all over mine with a flashlight and could not find a service point. If I have time today, I will see if the manual has anything listed, it might have something to do with changing the hydrolic fluid or filter.

I believe it the shaft driven model (perhaps the ISX) that has a grease fitting on the fan.

I'm going to do some of that myself, other stuff when I have to hit Cummins.

I handed the SpeedCo tech the lube diagram and he said he got all of them. They check everything that needs to be checked, and filled a little differential fluid that was a little low and a combination of Fleetguard and Baldwin filters and in and out for about $250. I see no reason to pay twice the money for the service. My local Detroit dhop, and my local freightliner / Spartan shop also was about $450. SpeedCo is your friend even if you have to lube a thousand miles early when you happen to be passing one of their locations.

Enjoy ISX15! Had my oil changed at Speedco in Hammond, LA last month on return from Stone Mt, Perry, and Fla gulf coast. Drove right in, walked across the street and had lunch, returned and checked out! About $280 out the door with Cummins filter. 54 quarts of oil, and a great price, with fast and excellent service. The also greased fan filter.
