Outside thermostat
Does anyone know where the outside thermostat is and how to disable it?

Bruce my thermocouple is in the generator compartment. I’m sure cutting the thermocouple off will disable it, but not sure I’d want to do that.

It's just a thermo-sensor they have them on most cars now days. They are cheap, under $10 in most cases and can be easily replace if they are not buried too deep in the structure. The one on my Ford Explorer goes nuts once in a while. I bought a replacement but learned I needed to remove the wrap around bumper to get to it. I would think in a motorhome it's mounted on the bulkhead behind the front cap. Check with CS.

Gary,
When the sensor reads temp near or below freezing there is an audible beep from the dash warning of possible slippery roads. This sensor was telling me it was -57 here in Florida. Then it would correct itself to ~65-70. the readings were all over the place but every time it read low temps the beep would sound again.

Bruce,
I assume you are talking about the Spartan dash outside temp. When I was having a problem with my fuel gauge not working they ask me if the outside temp gauge was working properly. They told me these two functions share a common ground.
Just thought I would share that.
Richard

I found a setting in the dash shouting off the thermostat. I'll see how that works

The usual term for these is "ambient air temperature sensor," to aid in future Googling. They don't have any moving parts, so there's not much that can go wrong. But they are typically placed in the front of the vehicle and connected with a plug, so they are susceptible to corrosion, damage, or simply vibrating loose. I don't know the specific type of sensor Spartan uses, but if it's a thermocouple, it will be extremely sensitive to even small changes in resistance; thermocouples usually operate in a millivolt range.
My guess is that the connector has come loose and isn't making good contact any more, perhaps assisted by some road debris.

I checked the connections. They are fine. I do find a piece of tape over it, used to protect it from the undercoating/paint. I removed that. We'll see if that clears the issue
