Overhead TV

How do I get yen overhead tv yo work when driving so my kid can watch it? I plug the tv into that box thing they gave me but I still can't seem to get it to come on when the key is in the ignition. All other functions work like when I put the NAV up on it. Any help would be appreciated.

That is by design. The overhead cannot operate to receive TV programming while underway.

I believe you will be successful if you unplug the plug in the overhead storage on the passenger side (at least on 13s). DW watched one of the big time TV trials that way. Of course using the In Motion satellite dish with the same entertainment section settings as if you were watching the overhead at a stop. And I didn't tell you this, but it is also how you put the travel GPS up on the screen (in the AV mode).

It is illegal in every state for a TV to be operated in view of the driver. That is why they are disabled with ignition on. You can get around it, but I wouldn't.

Got it! Just really confused as to why they make it so easy to bypass the safety feature

When you plug into that black box is a safety feature that stops it from working while underway

Unplug that box, plug the TV into that outlet and it will work. That box is the ignition kill for the power. The small wires run to the ignition switch which kills the power. On the older TS there was a fuse marked TV that would kill the power to that box, but I don't know on the Entegras.

Any of the TV's in back are not wired to the ignition and legal to watch while traveling.

Ed, if you have what you need, you can ask a mod to close the thread...otherwise it will likely turn into a continued discussion of the propriety of doing the adjustment. It works, it can be done, it is against the law, and a lot of people are doing it right or wrong.
