Paint 2021

I've noticed that the paint above the gutter rails has a rough feel to it, not buffed out?
After doing a hand wash and dry I noticed that this part of the RV didn't seem to have that paint buffed out. My 2012 and 2019 Anthems were buffed. Is this something that Entegra/Thor has changed?
Maybe those of you who have a 2021 could confirm? Or maybe mine just didn't get finished properly?

I have been told that "industry standards" say that 1 to 2" of unbuffed paint. I had maybe an inch of unbuffed paint all around the outer edge of my Anthem slides.

I think that if the paint is NOT in large sections, then it is likely that you will see some "orange peel" . Is that what you mean by "not buffed out"

I guess I mean the clear coat was not cut/buffed above the gutter Rails? It has a rough feel, not smooth like the main body.

I donít know what Entegraís position is now but my 2014ís paint was so bad above the gutter line I complained and was told they do nothing but paint above the gutter. I ended up cutting and buffing that one myself. The ones since then were painted better but they donít look like they have been cut and buffed above the gutter with the exception of part but not all of the front cap.

Our 21 Cornerstone has at least 5 areas of paint problems from poor fiberglass prep ("divots" painted over) to poor buffing, "hazy" finish, and the "orange peel" areas around rear lights and engine door. Appears little or no paint QC done? Fixing these issues requires days of down time and hassle...

Unhappy

Paint has been the biggest issue with our 21. Many places where a sliver of white shows between colors. We also have rough texture, low sheen on front cap as well as an area where the paint ran and sagged. Also a cloudy area on one of the basement doors. Our selling dealer, RVZero was not able to fix these areas. They managed to cash our check just fine, though:

The top 4/5's of my front cap was never buffed out. Very rough feel to the paint.

On our 2021 Aspire we have approximately 10 spots that need address.
Some of it is rough paint where the clear coat was either not painted correctly or not painted at all, other spots are in the paint itself. Kevin at NIRVC went over all the issues with us with the paint problems & told us that a lot of the new Entegras are coming in with paint problems. Entegra knows that they have a problem & are working on trying to get it resolved. NIRVC informed us that they will be taking care of all the issues with the paint, they have them documented & we will be scheduling an appointment here in the next month or 2 to have them taken care of. We were told it will take approximately 4-5 days to get them all resolved. In my opinion you have the same issue as Iím having with the paint.
NIRVC has been excellent so far dealing with the paint issues.
The dealer you have purchased from should be taking care of them.
When clear coat is applied correctly you should not have an rough spots.
Thanks
Bob

I've bought two brand new coaches from Entegra and both of them had some paint problems.... frankly not sure about the top section of the front cap, and it always looks terrible with some bug splatter on it also that is very hard to get off. May not have been buffed properly.

Let Entegra know about your concerns and consider a paint shop like NIRVC but if not then a trip to S&S Paint while you are at Middlebury for your two year PDI or AIR or whatever it now is will take care of the problem.

I dont know who is doing their initial paint work now. For a while it was S&S or some other out of town company, then it was the factory itself, and then it changed again. Dont know the current initial painter. However, S&S has taken care of all my problems..... they do a good job of repairing/repainting.

Paint is one area where Newmar trumps Entegra. The Newmars I've looked at had nearly perfect paint.

Entegra does and is ultimately responsible for the quality of the paint and product regardless of who runs the spray gun. The idea of responsibility falling to anyone other then Entegra should not be in the conversation in my opinion. As is the case with all there OEM/subs, Entegra is the badge and responsible for ALL quality.

Tiffin also (2021 Allegro Bus sitting right beside us) does a better job on paint. The Dutch Star 3 slots down looks good too to Dave&Ginny's point.

I tend to feel my paint is soft and less durable then it should be, I am not a painter so not sure if that's a soft clear coat or what.

Seems like a common problem. I have a 1íby 1í section on the drivers side slide that was not buffed out properly.
