There are times when I favor a solution that doesn't require an assistant (whom I refuse to name). It's just a much better solution than trying to find out just how the comms lost clarity.

Some sort of fancy laser thingy sounds like a wonderful choice for you to pursue.

I agree with your thoughts regarding an assistantless parking process, even though I'm sure those guys with the orange sticks ALWAYS guided you perfectly into place at the gate.

The purpose of the setup GKW described, as I understand it, is to let you know exactly where you need to be side-to-side. The second photo below is the one GKW posted. I’ve rotated it to the correct orientation and added notes to clarify how I think his system works.

LEBAZ, Nice job of cleaning up my picture. Your edit explains the idea much better. This simple system will allow you to drive into a tight spot quite easily. I used it to backup straight into a tight service bay door for an oil change and lube without coming close to brushing up to the sides. I think it would be a nice option for these larger coach builders to build 4 lasers into each corner with easy activation from the drivers seat. Driving into the same parking spot regularly is a piece of cake compared to getting into the tight ones that pop up frequently.

I put two Flashing flashlights on a shelf. Each clearly visible in the mirrors. Orange cones on the ground help too.
