That is the way to go. I'll have to check but I think my annual renewal on the LeeWay transponter is $30. a year, plus they charge $30 extra for the one that is able to be moved from vehicle to vehicle. The NC one is a winner, thanks for sharing. Those that Snowbird here, well worth getting the one from NC.

I have the E-Pass Xtra from Florida, and it too works in 17 states plus all of Florida’s highways. But they no longer offer it.

Looks like they’re switching to what they call the E-Pass Uni for $15. Transportable between vehicles including motorcycles, and also works in FL plus 17 other EZPass states.

But mine is supposed to keep working, so I’ll keep it until it doesn’t.

Couple years back when transponders were first coming out, I got my NY transponder set up for my coach and toad. After about a year I was notified I was using the wrong transponder and they were sending me a new one. Shortly after I received it, I got a toll bill for several hundred dollars.

Turned out when they shipped the transponder the unit had fallen out of the protective cover. I could trace all of the tolls and see where the transporting truck went. Lucky for me, all of the tolls were time stamped and the E ZPass people could see the tolls were obtained before I even got the unit delivered!

Another time I received a notice of violation on our Honda toad with a picture showing our toad and motorhome. The violation was for 'following too close'. After I explained the Honda was attached to the motorhome they said 'woops, sorry' and did away with the notice.

I’ve had the NC transponder for three years and never had a glitch. One time $7.40 charge. No renewal no annual fee, just that one time charge. Far as I’m concerned it can’t be beat.
You can list your vehicles and move it to any listed vehicle or get one for each vehicle.

The ipass works the same way ,the transponder I believe is now 10.00. It also works in Florida on the roads that take the ezz pass. Truth be told they charge your account whether or not the transponder is in your car if the tag is registered on your account.

It's rare the NC gummint gets something right but they sure have on this. If there is an issue they customer service staff is super helpful also.

I avoid the PA turnpike like COVID.
Outrageous fees.
I’ll take a 2 lane before I drive it. So far after RVing 20 yrs in PA I never took it with my RV.
It’s bad enough driving it with my car.

Yes they did. Also the folks are nice to you at the office in Morrisville (Raleigh) when you visit in person. Almost makes you forget you are in a government office. Some of the USPS should go there for training.

J.H. Thank You! for the heads up on the NC Quick Pass. My annual Leeway $40 a year transponder renewal comes due 10/1. Called Leeway, the NC transponder is reciprocal in Lee county FL. NC is still only $7.40 one time charge. $20. advance toll account, Florida is $30. advance account and $40 every year for their not good anywhere transponder. Great deal and good everywhere you said it was on the east coast that takes EZ Pass and others.

You’ll like it. Three years and never had a problem. Can’t say that about many things. They even send you the Velcro pieces to attach it.

In the past, due to the high fees of the Leeway Transponder, I just had the one and moved it from vehicle to vehicle when needed without attaching it. I hope the NC pass will work the same way, it should. The NC transponder is being mailed today.

BillyBass,
Where’s the low underpass? Apparently on a secondary road?
Thanks
Richard
