Poor picture quality on rear camera
have 2017 Entegra Aspire. Picture quality from turn signal cameras is excellent. The picture from the camera on the back of the coach is not so good. Anyone had experience with this?

Probably water and dust intrusion into the camera cavity or just on the lens itself if you coach doesn't have a camera "cover". Have you gotten out the ladder and done a good cleaning of the lens?
If my quality deteriorates, that has always been the problem.

It sounds like the rear view camera on our 16 Anthem. Entegra’s CS work on it but didn’t help it much. Worthless at night.
CS said sorry that the best we can do.
The rear camera on the 13 Aspire was excellent but this Anthems is just plain junk.

If it is not adjustable (up and down) on the control panel, see if you can move it from a ladder to a different position to improve the image. (clean it while up there )

On our 2018 Cornerstone, the rear view camera image is plenty good when the engine isn't running but has lines of static running horizontally across the screen when underway.
I've thought about dinking with it, but so far it hasn't bothered me enough to make it to the top of the Motorhome To-Do List.
But if anyone has a silver-bullet solution, by all means sing out!

Ours will get dirty after rain and/or dusty roads. Hook a cloth on a long broom handle, wipe it off. When clean it works great.

Yes - same thing on our '17 Aspire, even after thoroughly cleaning the camera and lens.
I believe it's as Gary mentioned: water intrusion. On our trip to Foley in January, the picture was just barely usable. We parked for 2 months with the rear of the coach facing west, and the image was much better on our return trip.

Can the rear camera be upgraded to one with a better lens and inferred cells?

Following this as we have the same situation. The side cameras are clear, sharp, and in color. The rear view is grainy and washed out. With dark glasses, it’s very difficult to view.

Typically I have a lot static/interference when underway, especially on bumpy roads. The last couple of days I periodically lose the picture entirely or like today, the picture turns mostly white and blurry to the point it is useless. I think I'm going to have to upgrade because this is ridiculous.

Tom, I can't remember exactly how to do it, but there are some camera settings you get access that should allow you to improve the quality of the image from the rear-view camera.
When our coach was new, the rear-view camera was all out of whack. I'd pass a blue car and it would be green in the rear-view camera image. If you get stuck finding what I'm talking about, give me a call and I'll go out to our coach while we're on the phone. That was we can stumble through it together, kinda like two drunks in a dark alley...

If the static is due to electrical interference (such as from the Cummins or in a car, the spark plugs), then that is a classic symptom of a shielded cable that has lost the ground on the shield.... I would wonder about the lack of a good ground for the cable which could easily be a broken attachment of the shield to the metal connector where the camera plugs into the switch (near the dash). Most electronics like a camera are going to conduct the camera video signal through shielded cable like coax cable. The grounded shield prevents the interference from distorting the signal (the video in this case). The most common connection to ground is via the connector into the switch box or sometimes the ground is to the mount of the camera itself. I would suggest removing the mount or any wire to ground at the camera, making sure there is no corrosion to any ground at the camera itself (remove the oxidation or corrosion with a very "fine" metal file), or find the switching unit and make sure the shield is good to the metal connector to the switch and that the switch box itself is well grounded.
A good oscilloscope should see the interference on top of the signal. If it's the alternator or similar "noisey" source, an oscilloscope should let you see the source. Also, does the interference vary with engine or alternator speed? That would help locate the source.

I think that is the solution. A new Camera.
FYI I do keep it clean, lens. Have adjusted the on screen settings for brightness, etc. Still a very poor quality picture.
Appreciate all the reply's.

Just had to add on again. My first unit had problems, then it died, so was replaced by NIRVC. The tech checked connections at the head unit and at the camera. Said it was as good as it can get for this type of unit. Dang. The new unit has the same interference as the last one but is now worse. When parked with engine off, the picture is great. Once I start up, the picture gets static lines. Then about 2 minutes of driving and hitting a few bumps in the road, I get the image shown in the attached picture. If I change the view from horizon to hitch and back to horizon, I can get the staticy picture for a few more minutes. Just for fun, while parked I had the rear camera on and a great picture and I was able to shake the video display with my hand pretty good and the picture never changed, so not a loose connection at the head unit. I like the "shielding" response but not sure how to fix that.
