We want to spend a little time in Port Aransas next month and know several forum members regularly go there but the IRV2 search function successfully defeated me! What parks there are recommended?

Vance, don't know about the parks, but know Gene Benson is there and can probably tell you what you want to know.

We stayed at Gulf Waters RV Resort. (fall 2016) Very nice place. Not sure what the Hurricane did to that area, but I have heard it is thriving well. Gulf waters is (was) an ownership resort with rentals.

We are here at Gulf Waters now. By far the best choice in the area. Immaculately maintained and beautifully landscaped. Businesses and restaurants are coming back one by one so bring your patience and come with the approach that you will be helping the locals.

Vance, I fully agree with the other posters that Gulf Waters RV Resort is the nicest park in the area by far. Amy & I have stayed there several times and always enjoy it.

And it has a four paws & a tail rating from our K9 traveling companion Lexi!

Vance, I spoke this evening with a friend who is there now. Gulf Waters itself is 100% operational.

P.A. took a direct hit as you know and pretty much devastated the community. Recovery is coming along, and every visitor will help.

The unofficial PIREP from my buddy was cool weather with a breeze tonight.

Gulf waters is the best one on the island and is in full operation. We prefer Southern Oaks luxury RV Resort in Aransas Pass, nicer with much bigger sites than on the island plus not the salt water concerns you get on the water. We are ten minutes from Port A plus we get a nice ferry ride each time we go. All JMHO

Stayed at Pioneer Park for on month last March, which is just down the road from Gulf Waters. Heard that it was completely devastated.

We are also at Gulf Waters now and will be here for one more week. This is a very nice place...sites are large, well landscaped, well maintained facility. Everyone here has been very nice. Looking at Pioneer as we pass it going into town, it appears they pack them in pretty tightly compared to our current location.

Many businesses in Port A are still closed. There is a fully stocked IGA grocery store and several restaurants and bars open. Several businesses are operating on a limited basis out of trailers (CVS, ACE Hardware, Post Office). Actually, the town looks pretty dismal at this point.

Corpus Christi is about a 35 - 40 minute drive if you need something not available here.

We made reservations at Gulf Waters. We will be there mid-Feb for about a week. While there we will check out other parks. Blue Bell ice cream and Luling/Gonzales/Lockhart bbq on the way there!

Thanks for everyone’s input!

Vance, if you haven't seen it, the USS Lexington aircraft carrier is open to the public in Corpus Christi. Relatively short drive from Gulf Waters and very interesting.
