My receivers at home are Hoppers. I did read that is what is required for the Firestick to work.

And have good HD service.

Thank you. It was my understanding that for Direct TV service I could get a stand-alone dish and set it away from the coach like you do when the roof mounted Direct TV dish is blocked by trees, but it would only pick up SD, not HD signals. Your post, however, suggests that a stand-alone Direct TV dish will pick-up HD signals. Correct? Assuming the answer is yes, how do you plug in your external dish to the Direct TV control box inside the coach, and can you record programs?
Regards,

There are several posts showing what they did for your situation. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/port...ml#post3616450

To receive HD signal you would need a Slimline HD dish like is mounted on your S&B. They are more complicated to aim than the standard def round dish as you have to find 3 satellites which usually requires using a meter.

An "A/B" switch to change from the rooftop dish to the freestanding dish works well.
Yes, you can use your DVR if you have it in your coach.
A great HD picture is the reward, and correct, you need a slimline dish or it's equivalent. Aiming without a meter is no hard because Directv has built in signal aiming and strength meters in to the software so that you can use your TV to help aim. Search on YouTube and you will find some good videos.
