Portable PI EMS defective?
This is our first trip with our portable PI EMS. It worked great our first night but since then doesn't want to pass thru electrical power. I plug the coach cable into the device, the device into the pedestal then flip the breaker. It show E 0 and runs thru the legs pretty quickly showing suitable voltage and 0 A on both legs. I wait quite a while but nothing gets passed to the coach.
Is it operator headspace or might I have a defective EMS?

I would call PI support, I have heard they are very helpful and prompt to provide assistance and replacement parts if needed.

It takes about 2 1/2 minutes before it will allow power to,pass. The reason is in case it interrupted during a spike so that the air conditioners have time to recycle. If it is taking longer than that, call PI. They are responsive and helpful.

I am aware of a delay and think I have waited sufficiently but not sure. We are on a last leg home and will call when we get there.

I know that DW turned on the AC too soon one day, I don't know if that could have caused an issue.

I've had a similar problem just recently. I pluged in and my coach EMS showed no power service. Unplugged the portable and pluged directly to the pedestal as I have a coach surge protection also. Worked fine? Next CG used the portable at the pedestal all worked great! Go figure?

I don't know how the portable PI EMS works, but on the hardwired EMS display a red light blinks until the delay allows connection. As others have said, call PI at: 919-462-8280 and they can walk you through tests to see if the unit is at fault.

Vance, not sure you're process, but I plug the portable in before plugging the coach into the portable. I check the voltage and for problems after I switch the breakers on. Then plug the coach in. I usually hear the "thunk" of the transfer switch after about 2 minutes as mentioned by another poster. If this isn't happening for you, suspect you need to contact PI. Sounds like your portable may have been hit by a spike or something, or it is inop.

Portable Progressive Industries Emergency Management System. It is a term that has been used on this forum often so most of us knew the meaning.

Maybe the portable PI EMS is saving your coach by not turning on. Did you check the voltage at the campground pedestal to make sure it was right?

Voltages showed on the display to be within range, it just wouldn't pass it through to the coach. I left it plugged in this morning for about 20 minutes and didn't get pass-through power. I will call PI Monday.
