Yes..... I think that the 22" Blackstone and the GMG Davy Crocket/Trek is the single best combo for camping. We've been traveling with this combo for 3 years now and it rocks!!!

We also carry a pizza oven (CampChef Artisan 90) that fits almost perfectly on the top of the Blackstone for yet another dimension while camping.

My smoker, best one I have owned, thanks to this forum, is the Green Mountain Davy Crockett and my grill is the original Weber Baby Q that still works perfect. Both work so good, I don't think I can find better choices for my needs.

I like my big green egg mini max.. grill smoker(brisket , plate ribs and beer can chicken) and occasionally do a pizza.. I had the webber 1200q pain in butt to keep clean and the black stone as well didn't use it as much as I thought I would.

Another vote for the GMG Davy Crockett. We carry that and no grill - the smoker works just fine for us.

X2. This cooks everything, but I did add a pizza stone.

We FT so space is limited. Weber Q for us.
If space were not an issue I would be looking at the Blackstone and/BGE for starters. Love the pizza option.

I mentioned this in another thread, but we full time and have a shed at both the north and south locations, so our cooking equipment stays and we don't worry about "portable".

I know it's not portable, but I find this one ends the decision on either grill, smoker or griddle. It does all three:

Again, not portable, so I apologize if anyone thinks I shouldn't post this to the thread here.

DW hates when these threads start up. I end up seeing something I "need" to buy.

For now, we only have a smoker at the S&B. We carry a Napoleon Travel Q, a 22" BS, a Lodge Hibachi, and a cantilevered open fire grate in coach. We have a BS and Bull grill at the Casita.

Thinking like Ken these days, may add smoker at the Casita and have both ends covered and hold pat in coach as I'm not sure I would use smoker on the road.

There is so much out there, look at what others are using in camp and get a sense of how you enjoy cooking.

To the owners of the GMG Davey Crocket..... where do you store this grill when you travel..... Do you put this in the basement of the coach or are you dragging a truck or jeep that can store this outside and in the bed?

For home or the coach? If for home, I have a Kamado Joe, ceramic smoker which can be used as either. It's a bit of bear to learn (at least for me) , but it is an awesome cooker

If for the coach I use a smokey mountain cooker. It breaks down and fits in the basement. You can use either lump or charcoal.

Happy smoking...

I liked the Davey Crockett so much I use it at home now too. When we travel in goes in the small front basement compartment of the drivers side.
The Weber is on the passenger side last compartment as we use that almost nightly. It is in the fastest compartment to get to for one night stops.

I modified mine by removing the folding legs/carry handles and replaced the spring legs with solid legs.....I used 2 Davy Crocket handles like the ones on the lid, they line up perfectly and a little high temp RTV keeps them from leaking.

I use the outdoor cover and it just slides in and out of our carpeted basement on the solid legs
