Power cord / water hose pass through Fix
The gasket in the power cord pass through slot has torn and needed to be replaced. The gasket material is the same stuff used to seal around the basement bay doors. First photo.
Jayco part number: 0207708 // $3.37 per foot //
SEAL,BULB BAGGAGE DOOR 2.00X.75 BLACK
- The pass though seal is held in place with self-tapping square drive screws. Remove screws.
- Measure the removed gasket to find how long a piece to cut.
- The part that goes over the opening edge has metal that is best cut with tin snips, but a large pair of wire cutters should also work. The gasket can be cut the rest of the way with a utility knife.
- I put a bit of silicon caulk in the groove of the gasket to act as glue. Glueing the gasket will make it easier to reinstall the screws once the glue has set.
- Then I clamped the gasket in place to allow the caulk "glue" to set.
- Once the Caulk glue has set replace the screws.

Great fix. Do you have any photos with all the weatherstripping off? My Renegade came with a stupid 4” screw in plate for the power cord. I want to modify it to have the pass through like your coach. I had that on our previous Tiffin and it worked great.
Thanks!

The second photo kind of shows it. Basically, it is a "U" shaped sheet metal channel about 3 3/4" tall 3" wide and 3" deep.

Here are some additional photos. It also helps to have the clamp in place while driving the self-taping screws.

Thanks for the additional info and photos. That’s just what I was looking for to modify my current coach to something that works better.

I refrained from gluing. These gaskets will tear again from normal use. I’ve replaced them twice in a few years. I’m fairly careful to not pull at angles that put undo stress on the gasket. Not gluing makes the change quick and easy.

DarkSideJeep,
thanks again for the additional info. I managed to complete my modification and it worked out perfectly. I made the new piece from aluminum and riveted it in. A couple of sheet metal screws hold the weatherstripping in place. MUCH easier to use than the factory round hole in the bottom. The scary part is taking an angle grinder to a brand new coach!
