A higher end Steering Gear box / fluid pump combination would probably have much less vibration. But with all system integrators there are costs involved in the products chosen -- and sometimes cost and performance must be balanced to maintain a price point for the customer.

Same here. It doesn't seem "normal" to me, but it doesn't seem to be causing any problems either.

I suspect that they really mean that to change it would require more engineering and a different part supplier -- and more cost.

As long as it doesn't cause an issue, it's OK with me - I don't even notice it now.

As I said in my original post. Spartan has said they are aware of the problem and consider it a problem. They say have a fix. If all of you who have the issue report it, it will increase the pressure on them to approve and roll out that fix. Don't be complacent. We've paid a lot of money for our coaches and we should not except a flaw that we would not except in a car at a tenth of the price. Please report to Spartan, for all of our sakes

Email sent to Scott at Spartan. Hopefully they will identify a solution.

I just got off the phone with Charlie @ Spartan. He stated that with the newer chassis and added weight to the Entegra coaches that Spartan is installing higher volume pumps that move more fluid to help turn the wheels. The end result is that due to the added weight, there will be noise from a static wheel turn and slow speed wheel turn.

That's exactly where I hear the noise and feel the vibration.

The answer is, its normal.

I first spoke with Eric West from Spartan and then was handed of to another person maybe another Eric. Don't know. I don't remember names well. Should have written it down but was having dinner in a restaurant at the time. The second guy is the one who told me they had a fix but it wasn't approved by engineering yet. And he knew I was putting the coach in storage and set me up on his calendar to call me on April 7th next year to advise me where to take it in Minnesota to get it fixed. I sure he was assuming that engineering would approve some kind of fix buy then. I know that behind the scenes there was a conference call with my dealer , Entegra, and Spartan. I had discussed the issue in depth with Eric West talking about increased steering resistance at slow speeds and etc. For now I have faith that they will make it right. They all seem to be genuinely concerned and attempt to make you understand even very technical explanations.

Here is the response from Charlie Fisher at Spartan:

"Is the vibration only at low speed or engine at idle. If so, our engineering group is working on a resolution for this condition and should have a fix in place in the near future. If the vibration continues when you increase the engine RPMs then we should get the coach into a Spartan Chassis service center to have the condition diagnosed."

I told the I only have vibrations at idle or low speed.

Noisey Power Steering

Glad I looked at this thread. I called when I bought my coach in Sept 13 and was told it's normal I will be calling tomorrow and make sure they get a record of my issue. Thanks all!

There ya' go. By spring they'll have this whole thing ironed out.

Having seen ops in Charlotte at the Spartan factory, your chassis is likely already built and awaiting shipment to Entegra. They build significantly early
