Oh brother! Power steering should be invisible when refined. Would you accept it on a car? Probably not. Just my opinion. Don't want to start an argument that these posts often do here but you paid your money for a machine that should handle and feel like the best technology that can be had. There is no trade off. That Spartan is even be inclined to correct it states that it is a design issue. These conversations on this forum get so anal sometimes that I can't believe it. To advise someone to not get the fix because the tail wags when you go from post to post? Really? Oh my. I must be on the wrong site. My opinion only.

I think some who have not experienced this are blowing it out of proportion. At its worst it is a minor annoyance and certainly does not negate the wonderful ride and handling of the Spartan chassis. Sure it would be better not to have this minor issue, but if you find an RV or a car that is perfect I would like to know about it.

Exactly! Honestly I would not have know it was an issue had I not read this thread prior to my delivery. I was looking for it during my test drive and mine has it. Im on the fence about doing anything about now though.

[QUOTE=brobox;1819273]Thank you for the heads up. Strange that Spartan is have steering issues lately on a chassis that has been around for years.[/QUOTE
]
They have had this steering "problem" at least since 07. I had a 2007 Tiffin with a Spartan chassis and made the same noise. Spartan has told everyone it's normal. It may be normal to Spartan service, but Frank Wzyzwany had been working with engineering for a fix. Unfortunately, Frank has left Spartan but maybe he got them looking at this before he left.
Bottom line it may not hurt anything, but it's not normal. Other chassis manufactures don't have the issue. Noel

I'm not sure how to start a new thread, so will post here and put myself in the hands of the site monitor or others who might advise me as to the correct procedure. My issue is air infiltration noise while driving in a strong crosswind. At a road speed of 55-60 mph, and a crosswind of approximately 40 mph, I was getting a rather loud harmonic wind sound. I'm guessing that the gen slide is the source, but have no way of confirming unless I duct tape over the opening and then wait for another high crosswind experience. Any comments or opinions are welcome.

I would guess the wind noise is the door awning. It sticks out at the front corner and a strong crosswind will deflect around the corner of the windshield and whistle when it hits the awning. Have bit found a cure yet for this problem, also had it on previous coaches of other brands. JMHO

What amazes me is the minor annoyance at parking speeds on some units and an uncomfortable pulsation at highway speeds in the steering on other units of the same model MH's. After reading the posts and talking with Ted Cook at Entegra, it is still a head scratcher for me.

Crosswind noises are one of those that very hard to track down or fix. There are so many items the "stick out" on a MH like the porch awning, the way the sideview mirrors are tilted, etc. that when a wind hits them from a non-normal direction it disprupts the desighned air flow causing wind noise.

Entegra added a ton of spray foam in my generator compartment where the floor comes into the front cowel, trying to kill the wind noises. It helped but I still have them in a crosswind. I just turn the stereo up and hope for a tail wind.

Thanks for the comeback folks. I guess the real answer is to stay out of any crosswind! Not much fun anyway, and was strong enough to lay a 5th wheel on its side, so a little noise was pretty minor. Incidentally, Ann n Gene, we lived in Perkins, Ok for many years. I also taught at Cushing HS after I retired from the USN.

Guaranteed! If the wind is strong enough to blow trailers over, there is no getting rid of that noise, short of parking and then you will still hear the wind blowing.
