PRep to Tow 2021 Aspire RV for Repair

What do I need to do to prepare my RV so it is ready to be towed by a wrecker service?

Printed instruction to give to the tow truck driver should be carried on all coaches. Entegra also has instruction in the owners manual. From experience, tow truck drivers do not know the procedures for all coaches.

Remove the drive shaft (them)
Remove the mud flap
Coach is at ride height
Ensure that their "stinger" can reach fully back to steer tires without hitting
generator front cap.
Pneumatic hose to apply brakes from the tow truck
I am assuming not towed on flat bed trailer but with steer tires lifted

Maybe I am forgetting something.... hopefully others will chime in

REMOVE generator front cap to protect it from damage. It comes off by removing a few screws

X2, that is a $2,000 repair when it is cracked from bouncing on the tow boom. The Diamond Shied has to be removed, cowling repaired and painted. That I experienced when I didn't know any better and why I now carry a sheet to give to the tow truck driver.

I would also remove all items from the fridge as it will probably not be plugged into power. I would remove the gen door and mudflap as well. They will remove the drive shaft for towing. Good responses from this post.

Here is towing info provided during my Spartan Academy in June of 2018.

I apologize about the quality of the images, they're copied from a graphic in a .pdf file that's too big to post here. If you click on the image, you can resize it for better viewing.

Those images come from a document titled "Stuff Happens" that provides Spartan recommendations for dealing with "Stuff" that can stop you on the side of the road. Here's a link to that file on my GoogleDrive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YGO...ew?usp=sharing

Be advised, this was provided during my Spartan Academy in June of 2018. I can't vouch for the currency of that info. I'd expect that most of it is still current and valid. Use it at your own risk.

Take care,
Stu

Personally I would request a lowboy. When ours had to be towed a
Few years ago we called Geico and told them to send a lowboy to move the coach. There was no way possible I was going to allow a tow truck to hook up to the front of my coach. Lowboy came out and we pulled the coach up on the lowboy and problem solved. No removing driveshaft or anything else.

The nice thing was Geico paid for the tow and the truck was at my location within 30 minutes after I called Geico.

After we got the coach off the lowboy and it was checked out the next morning issue was the ECM fuse was loose causing the issue. $150 was all it cost.
