Pressure wash engine and engine compartment

I watched a video posted pertaining to changing out the air filter, and saw a pressure washer being used. Has anyone used a pressure washer to clean their engine, generator and engine compartment?

I saw a comment that water is kicked up by rear wheel during rain storm, but that isn't at 2000+ PSI

your comments and thoughts are appreciated. TIA

Its 2000 PSI at the tip and drops off a foot away.

We pressure washed all of our heavy equipment and pickups at least once a month.

Try Simple Green, a decent scrub brush and a garden hose nozzle. I try to avoid the pressure washer around any expensive electronics. If you have decent water pressure that should suffice.

I pressure wash that one too, but very carefully. Awesome Cleaner from Dollar Tree works better that Simple Green and other like type cleaners at a fraction of the cost. It will even take rust off of a driveway.

Cleaner

Ok Thanks guys. I have used the "LA's Totally Awesome" cleaner before. Used it on boats all the time. That stuff is amazing. Its hard on wax though.

I just barely serviced my generator... I simply wet a rag down with water and wiped all the generator down.. also the fiberglass on the inner ... really thatís all that gets dirty...
As others have said... this area has a lot of the internal wiring
Around and water spraying around this area makes me nervous...

That's the stuff, but it is a dollar for a quart at $ Tree. Wow, what a markup at Amazon. It strips wax.

Full strength when using it as a de-greaser.

Do you remove the cover or just wash the outer shell?

I just lightly spray the outer shell. Not looking to damage the generator just clean what I can see. I also place a piece of tape over the circuit breaker to keep water out. I use blue painter tape, no residue and it keeps the light spray off.

That's pretty much what I do also. Thanks
