My printer is on the older side and isn't exactly super user friendly to hookup wirelessly. However to hook it up the printer needs to join an existing wireless network, in this case our MiFi and then through computer magic my laptop can detect it and send it pages to print or receive scanned documents from it. I am pretty sure it doesn't use up any airtime since I have used it when we have had no signal but I also know that I cannot communicate if the WiFi is turned off.
How this all works is way beyond my pay-grade and when it doesn't I revert to emergency plan B and plug it into the USB port.

It is not small but closes up to be moved easily. You do not have to install software on the computers. You need to connect it to a computer with internet once for setup. It uses the HP61 ink. I bought it at BJs for $89.00. You can put it anywhere you have 110V. It prints double sided, and is a scanner and copier.

We are very similar - 2 laptops, 2 tablets and 2 smart phones for a hot spot, but we use the Canon 5490. We had LD put an extra 110 in the last cabinet on the PS. We put the printer in the one at the front. Works great for us. We just open the cabinet to print.

Wifi printer
We use a Verizon Jet pack Mifi.(internet over a cellular network). You can use a Wifi printer with this. Just plug in your Wifi enabled printer to the electric outlet. Follow your printers instructions to connect. Some say to hook up first with a USB cable, and others just turn on.. Anyway, Remember that printing over WIFI on this type of network uses your data so if you are using a Mifi, or other similar connection, it is better to hook up the printer via USB cable to your computer before printing. If not and you have a lot of printing, you will use up your data allowance over the Wifi. When I have a lot of printing, I take my laptop to where I have the printer and hook it up with a USB cable. That way I don't use up a lot of data in my internet charge.

I decided to try something different with the Anthem. I don't know if it's going to work, but I think it will.
I haven't used my printer in a couple of years in the TS. So with the Anthem I decided to get a tablet and transfer anything I wanted to print to the tablet and be able to carry that with me. Usually what I want to print are directions from Google Maps and hopefully the tablet will take the place of the printer.
If I was back in business and needed the printer it would be on the closet floor wireless.

Chuck,
I know you have the Galaxy Tab, and might be interested to know that there is an app that enables you to print from it. It is called PrinterShare. I believe it is $4.99. I installed the free version which only enables you to print a test page to make sure it works with your device before paying for the full app. It works on my Tab when I tried it from home wireless network, and you could take the Tab to any wireless network printer to print from it.

Why pay for an app for the Galaxy Tab, I found a free way to print.
