Propane

Going to be living in our coach Aspire 2014 DEQ this winter in Ohio. Does anyone have a good guess on how long my propane tank will last? Thanks in advance.

My guess is 3 tanks in your area if you are only using LP. If you can’t get delivery service, I would install a extend a stay valve too your lp tank. RV Geeks did a you tube video on hooking up a large lp tank.

I would augment my heating by using a couple of portable electric heaters and power them directly from the power pedestal

Are you going to be plugged in? Is the electricity metered? I was just at a campground in Michigan where most people stay all season. Most of them hook up an external 100#tank.

We will be hooked up electric which is not metered, electric is free here. I also plan on getting a 100 pound tank which holds 24 gallons of propane. I plan on just using the on board lp tank for emergencies. So I will be on burner and electric the whole time we are here. I hope to get 15 days on the external tank before having to refill.

There was some previous postings about heaters on the LP regulator. In very cold weather the LP regulator can ice up if I remember. I think later model Aspires had such a thing but not sure about 2014. You might look into those posts. My previous coach was a 2013 Aspire with propane and it never seemed to heat well in real cold weather.

We've camped in single digits and never had a problem keeping warm in our 2012 Aspire. The AquaHot is a nuclear reactor for the heat it generates. We could go about a week on a 100lb tank we had hooked up to an extend a stay so we could save the on board tank.

That was our problem. Our Aspire chewed up LP at a crazy rate. If you burn 100 lb a week, that’s a lot of propane. My old Monaco would run a furnace for about a month on the RV tank.

I really never considered propane use a problem. Falls into the same category as gas mileage...

I agree 100 pounds seems a lot but it's better than freezing. Our house sold much quicker then we thought so we are stuck here till spring time. I did speak with Aqua-Hot they said hooked to electric we should use less than 2 gallons per day. I agree same as gas mileage. Let's hope it's a mild winter. We plan on using bath house for showers and they also provide free washers and dryers so that will cut down on propane use I hope.

Cool, begs a question though. Aren't you getting hungry, or do you have food delivered. [emoji1]
