Propane Aquahot exhaust tip

I have a 2013 Aspire 42DLQ with a 375LP Aquahot and the chrome exhaust tip is just rusted really bad. Aquahot says it is an Entegra part. Entegra says it is discontinued. People on Facebook group gave me a link to a replacement on Amazon but I ordered it and it must be for a diesel Aquahot because it is way to big. My exhaust pipe OD is 1 3/4”. Any help with a link to a replacement would be awesome.

Try this stainless steel tip.

I sanded all three exhaust ends smooth and used black header paint. I’m lazy and cheap.

The propane tip has to have an extra flap across it to keep the right back pressure I believe.

This is what I purchased for my 2013 LP 375. Still looks good today. I did not put the tips on this and it has worked fine since November of 2016.

https://www.amazon.com/Gibson-500409...s%2C108&sr=8-1

I ended up putting about 3 self tapping screws through the tip into the exhaust pipe to make sure it would not come off. Perhaps those screws produce the same amount of back pressure that the baffle tip on the old one did.

I did buy the adapter to reduce the fitting to work with the smaller exhaust tube from the AH. If you can scroll down on the Amazon link, I purchased the exhaust tip for the Generator as well, and the adapter there may be shown.

From my understanding the extra flap that goes across the end of the pipe is only required when you are travelling and want to run the Aquahot for heat. I was told that is was required by Aquahot, so I will put back on my new tip when I replace it.

FWIW - my aqua hot is propane. 2015 Aspire. I purchased a new tip from aqua hot because of rust. Within 5 months the new tip was pitted and rusting. I called aqua hot and they wanted pictures. I sent them and then I was told this was normal - all the tips become pitted and rust. I won't print my response but the bottom line is - buy the gibson - DO NOT get a new tip from aqua hot. Both tips were about the same $.

I installed chrome tips on my 2003 Dynasty when we purchased it in 2007 but a few years ago ours also started to show some pitting and corrosion which drove me nuts.

I replaced mine with polished stainless steel tips for the genset, Aqua-Hot as well as the engine a few years ago and all I had to do was machine a small reducer for the genset as it was 1.5" and the tips were 1.75" in diameter.

The genset and the Aqua-Hot still look like new but the engine tip has turned to a slight gold~ish tint, actually looks kind of cool.

As for the flapper that Aqua-Hot says you need when operating running down the road, I have not found that to be needed. We routinely run out coach's Aqua-Hot in cold climates when traveling for the past 15 years without any issues. Although much of the time the engine keeps the boiler tank up to temp.

I don’t run my Aguahot when driving, there’s plenty of heat from the engine for both heat and hot water. Granted, I’m not driving in below freezing weather. If I did, does the Aquahot still need to be run? Planning a trip to Michigan in November, thanks.

We used to travel in single digit temps with our Dynasty as we used our coach for snowmobiling and yes, there were times when the engine heat needed assistance to keep the boiler tank hot so the diesel burner would ignite during traveling.

Now that we no longer snowmobile, we still find ourselves traveling in cold temps quite a bit and I leave the diesel burner switch on for the Aqua-Hot. The reason being is when we stop in a rest area or pullout and shut the engine down, it is nice to have the Aqua-Hot function as designed and engage the burner if/when the boiler fluid temperature drops enough. Seldom does the diesel burner ignite when we are traveling but it is very common for it to ignite when we pull off to fix a sandwich or stretch our legs.

We know people who will not run their Aqua-Hots (or even LP furnaces) when they travel and bundle up like Eskimos in their pilot and co-pilot seats with blankets and coats, then have to heat up the interior when they stop.

Personally, we purchased motorhomes to travel in comfort. In all our 30+ years of RV'ing now we have always traveled in comfort, whether heat is called for or air conditioning. May as well be comfortable, you've paid for it.

Thank you. I mostly travel alone and set the house thermostat before hitting the road. Now I’ll just flip the diesel burner and the electric on the Aquahot panel before starting out.

Don’t know about ‘13’s but ‘14 Aspires don’t have the engine loop, so you have to use the burner to have heat while driving in cold temps.

The 13's don't have the engine loop either. I've run the propane while traveling with the new tip without the tip on it, and I have not noticed it not working. We don't typically drive through very cold temps, but when leaving the propane burner on, we have always arrived with hot water that I know of.

Mark, the only thing stopping me from putting a new tip on (I have the Gibson in my basement), I’ve managed to lose two factory tips from road debris. One more time and I will try the Gibson.
I get the “hot” and “have to move gasses away” etc. , but why we have stuff hanging down below the basement seems like an accident waiting to happen.
