Punctured Line during oil change

After having the Coach serviced at Speedco I noticed an oil leak. Thought they got sloppy and it was from the frame. Turns out they punctured the hose which is the oil return from the turbo. A Cummins dealer told me it was proprietary and would take about two days to get and 5 days to get me in. The hose was patched and I continued on my trip. When calling my local Cummins dealer to have one shipped, they tell me any hose of the same size will work. Anyway keep an eye out when your oil is being changed. Speedco is going to cover the repair.

Im assuming it happened during the oil filter change as the turbo return line is right next to filter. They are correct, it is not a prefabed line. Any fuel rated hose of same inlet ID and wall tightens will work, as its clamped at the ends. However, from a mechanic standpoint, damaging that oil line while perform a task is unacceptable.

Well how about the time cummins rammed a tool chest along the front passenger corner of our coach. It could happen anywhere talking about unacceptable.

First time I was under the MH and saw that hose crossing the oil filter I thought that was one of the dumbest things I had seen. Now I know it was. Very easy to get the line caught in a closed jaw type filter wrench and cut it.

It is hard to see up there and I can see where that can happen. Another engineering design by one that has never preformed an oil change. Thanks for the heads up....I will be sure to mention to the Speedco tech there is a stupid line located at the filter.
