Radio/Navigation System

I plan our trips - and stops - using RV Trip Wizard. I like it better than any other trip planner I've found. It will export routing but I don't use that feature. I let the RM in the coach route the same trip and then compare the two routes. Any differences get checked against Google Maps and a big Truckers Atlas. When going into new areas off the interstates I will frequently double check the route on satellite views just to make sure we will fit. One experience with a former coach heading down a farm road in back woods Georgia while praying for a church or school with a big enough lot to turn around a 40' coach towing was enough for us.

And one other piece of advice. If you use RM, update it often. There will often be updates available between the start and finish of a trip that could impact your route - think new roads and/or interchanges.

Would you be able to plug the Apple TV into the matrix somehow and be able to view the Apple TV on any coach TV. I already travel with an Apple TV, but in the classic, I plug it into the salon TV HDMI port. I'm getting newer coach soon, this might be the only solution. However, this solution would not give you CarPlay...only the ability to see whatever is one the other device screen

Yes. You can plug in Apple TV into the matrix. I have Apple TV on mine. The matrix has an extra source connection wherever the front satellite connection is.

This unit slid right into the same sized slot as the old Kenwood. All the leads were the same. the microphone could be placed anywhere convenient. We put ours next to the try between the front seats. The newly supplied faceplate snapped on. The whole process took an hour. Absolutely no surprises. I think the biggest issue is Kenwood keeping up with demand, When we bought ours, the distributor in Seattle was only able to get 4 and they sold the day they received notice that they'd get them.

It was essentially a Plug and Play install so that part was easy.

I got the same unit last year, but had to have a friend buy it and ship it to me as they were not yet available in the US. Nice unit but not quite a wire for wire setup in my older MH. Lost the 10 disk CD changer but gained new map updates that were not available for my older unit.

Cool

I'm getting a new coach and I will not be switching out the Rand McNally. For the most part, I am happy with the RM....I started this thread to see if anyone had figured out a way to get Apple Car Play or Android Car to work with the RM system. There are times, I'd like to throw Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze on the screen.

For what's worth, I did contact Riverpark to ask the question. All I got was a short reply. "Our radio is not certified for Apple Car Play"

I donít see how adding CarPlay brings much to the party if youíre going to use it through the small dash screen thatís only accessible by the driver while traveling.
