Rand McNally Dock and Exporting
Has anyone been successful in exporting a trip made with the Rand McNally Trip Maker, to the SD card using the RM Dock?
Every time I try, it will not accept the pass phrase given. I'm starting to believe that the only thing you can do with the dock and the card is update the software. It works great if you happen to have an external GPS like the 7720.

Ken:
No help here. I have found that we only make general plans (e.g., well, by 2 weeks from now, we hope to be in XXXX, and then we diverge along the way, so planning heavily has not worked for us. I also just cant get the hang of TripPlanner..... it is not the most intuitive software I have ever encountered and I have been playing with software and computers since the early 1970s so something about it is either not obvious or I am stuck in a paradigm that does not translate. However, I think some guys like Brobox use it all the time, so I am going to guess that you will get an answer when some more owners get a chance to read your post.
Be sure and pass along to all of us who dont us it what you find and think and maybe we can ask you some questions when you get it fixed.

I tried planning our trip with it this season after Good Sam's was taken off line. It wouldn't work for me either. Went back to Google Maps and RV Parky. As I was checking RV parks on Parky, it started doing a routing map. That was a nice surprise.
However nothing to transfer to the SD card.

I've used it with no problem. Be sure to cut an paste the pass phrase so it matches exact.

No copy/paste...... Trip Maker has an export function. If you happen to have a RM GPS that you bought off the shelf such as the 7720, you plug in the USB port to your PC, enter a pass phrase that Trip Maker supplies, and it does the export.
I was hopeful that you could do the same using the SD card for the built in RM GPS, but I'm not having any success.
I will call tech support next week sometime to try and get a final answer on this.

I think I did a copy/paste of the pass phrase, but I will try that again.
Thanks !

I am happy to report that by doing the suggested copy and paste on the pass phrase, I was able to export my trip(s) to the SD card.
This makes me very happy (doesn't take much, does it?). I am not fond of planning trips on the actual GPS. But I really enjoy planning them on the PC. The RM trip maker is very similar to the Good Sam trip planner I used to use. The biggest difference for me was locating campgrounds. In the Good Sam app, there was a check box to display the campgrounds along your route. With the RM Trip Maker, you do a search on "campgrounds", once your route is established, and it will display the campgrounds along your route just like the GS one did. You can click on each one for more details or to go to their web site.
The more I learn about this coach and the various items used in building it, the more I love it !!!!
