Really need the help of 19-22 Vega Touch owners

I made this post on the Vega Touch update post with no response. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/lat...ml#post6274514

I really need the help of a few people if they would make this simple test of unplugging and give the DC House volt reading as stated in the linked post. Firefly and Justin at NIRVC are trying to find out of this is a charging issue with several coaches, or only the 3 known of so far. I would really appreciate the help, it may help others as well

BTW, the 22 that came into NIRVC with batteries receiving a partial charge, the batteries were shot and had to be replaced.

Brobox (Chuck), I conducted your test over 2 hours this morning. Everything was turned off except refrigerator. Shore power was turned off at 7:15 am. In summary:

7:15 am house 12.9v chassis 12.9v
7:45 am house 12.7v chassis 12.6v
8:01 am house 12.5v chassis 12.6v
8:15 am house 12.6v chassis 12.6v
8:30 am house 12.5v chassis 12.6v
8:45am house 12.6v chassis 12.6v
9:02 am house 12.6v chassis 12.6v
9:15 am house 12.6v chassis 12.6v

My VT Issues:
1. VT shows 12.9 v on float (shore power full time). If it is correct that a full charge is 13.1v, then I may have a charging issue.
2. VT inverter Custom 1 setting for float voltage changes from 13.7v to 13.2v overnight or upon power reset. The other default settings seem to be close to those recommended on the forum.

Hope this helps. I am going to be at NIRVC Atlanta on Aug 22. If I have a problem maybe Justin can look at it. After that Entegra on Sep 19.

Roger that was a huge help, thank you!
Your batteries are holding 100% in 2 hrs, which is good. However the default voltage is dropping 1/2 volt below what the batteries should be charging at, same as mine.
If you can, can you check the charging time? Mine was defaulting to 2.5 hours which is not long enough. In combination, they will lead to short battery life.
I am sure Justin will really appreciate your input. I just leaned last night that he will be flying in to meet with Firefly in a week and why this information from a few coaches is so important.

Chuck

What menu were you seeing that duration setting you are concerned about?

On the inverter page, Absorb Hours in Custom settings
The float and absorb volts shown in the photo are to low and what mine kept defaulting to.

Thanks Roger
That is the problem that Justin is trying to work out with Firefly is defaulting to the lower settings.
He will be sending this post results to Firefly showing others with the same problem.

Thanks Van, Your factory default settings are also below the recommend charge rate and charge time for the Relion batteries. Thanks to the few that have helped, we are seeing that the factory default settings are to low.

I have already had my factory batteries die at an early age from under charging. Hopefully this is going to help to get the charging rates increased.

I don't know if this issue started with some of the recent Vegatouch updates, but I found a inverter screen shot from August 2021 that showed the float volts at 13.7. The absorb hours were 2.5.

Should have attached this screen shot. Defaulted to these settings over night.

Roger, thank you so much for all of your assistance. If I could ask one more huge favor is to unplug with the inverter on and read the DC House voltage on the mone page. Mine and one other are dropping to 12.4v volts as soon as we unplug and get back to read the screen.

Also thanks for the idea to check old screen shots of the VT, I will look through mine, Great Idea! You may have unlocked the puzzle. Feedback on this subject is so important if they are going get the problem solved.

Others that have not checked their readings may not realize that is only an 80% charge. With only and 80% charge on L16 batteries, they will last maybe 2 years. I didn't mind loosing the OEM Relions, but I don't want to ruin $3,000 worth of new batteries. It looks like this is a common problem, so everybody is effected. If others would unplug for a minute and give us a reading of the battery charge status on the home page, you will be helping all new Entegra coach owners. Without feedback the problem can't be fixed. It seems only Justin and I have brought this up to Firefly. Without input from others, they may continue to blame Entegra.

I raised my values on the inverter settings again last night. No surprise they reverted back to the lower settings.

While plugged up my house batteries were at 12.9v
I just went an unplugged and walked back in. I got 12.8v. After 3 minutes I dropped to 12.6
I have been at 12.6v for the past 20 minutes.

I have my fridge on, wine fridge on, outside cooler on, a couple of lights, and a pc plugged up and on.

I do care about ruining my batteries. Even if they are the cheaper OEM batteries. I paid for them and I rarely use them so I want them to last as long as possible before I have to replace them.

Bad enough we get batteries that do not last very long. Even worse we have charge settings that will make them die even sooner.

Roger, your idea was brilliant! I checked my screen shots dated Aug 31, 2020 and found that the float rate was at 13.7v but the absorb rate still low at 14.4 and 2.5 hours. However when unplugged, my charge voltage was 12.7 which is 100% instead of 80%.

I am attaching the photos so they can be forwarded along with this post to Firefly.
This is a copy and paste from Relion owners manual of what the charge rates should be:
Charge Storage (12 V System)
Bulk/Absorption 14.4 V - 14.7 V Float 13.6 - 13.8 V
