Removing the house batteries in my 2020 Reatta

Other than finding a young short weight lifter, anyone have any tricks they can share removing the large L16 6v AGM batteries out of the basement compartment in my 2020 Reatta? I need to replace them, they are hard to get to and look like a real knuckle buster to get them out.

Can't help getting them out but it's a shame that those batteries need replacement. We'll cared for, they should last 7 to 10 years.

I just had the 4 L16 batteries in my Aspire replaced with Lithium batteries. I had it done because I knew hefting the L16 batteries would be beyond my abilities. It is really a two-person job and the one lifting the batteries out of the bay needs to be able to dead lift about 120#. The second person disconnects the batteries and slides them to the edge of the bay for the other one to lift out. It does help that the bay floor is carpeted which allows the batteries to slide with little effort.

So the lifter needed to be an NFL lineman and the other needs a smaller body size like a soccer player.

I did just that. Hired the caretake's son at my storage location. Gave him $100. and the old batteries for scrap. He made another $65 on the batteries. He also had the delivery driver place the batteries right next to the coach compartment. Worked out well for both of us.

He lifted them in the compartment, slide them to me the I put them in place and connected them. We put cardboard on the compartment floor to slide the batteries easier.

That is about the time with the cheapest marine batteries from Walmart. My last set of GC2 FLA for the MH lasted 5+ years with lots of boondocking.

When I replaced them I got a friend to help.

Swap to Li, then you don't have to turn in the cores, and you can probably give them away. I bet two of them are just fine and would work for somebody for a lot more years. Maybe even get something for them, buyer removes of course. You take pictures and remove the wiring.

Without a doubt. If I had a dollar for every time I told Entegra that, my CS would have been free. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/rea...rs-590328.html

Sorry about not catching the typos on my previous post.

Holy c*#p

Read brobox posts about the Vega Touch settings. My guy who helps me with this kind of stuff had me shut off the power and the he checked the voltage at the batteries and said they dropped to 9.5. He said they needed to be replaced so we're looking for them now. I had asked Entegra for the specs for the batteries and they gave me: BATTERY,6V AGM D CYCLE L-16 SERIES AUTO POST WITH THREADED INSERT RELION *** MUST SOURCE LOCALLY***. Then I saw the post and brobox’s. I checked the Inverter settings and attached is a screen shot. The Absorb Hours were set to 0. I increased to 3. Will that solve the issue or do I still need to replace the batteries?

I would charge the batteries and see if they hold a charge. But at 5 years old and being under charges, I would have my doubts. I would not replace with Relion, they are at the bottom the the preferred battery list. Lifeline would be #1 with FullRiver being #2. I ordered my Fullriver from an Interstate dealer on the internet. The were shipped out of Detroit and delivered right to the MH. The delivery driver set them at the battery compartment door. I saved about $800 dollars shopping online. No core charge and no delivery fee.

We are having the house batteries replaced in our 21 Anthem tomorrow or the next day. I am not looking forward to it. I have the new ones in the back of my pickup and I watched too guys at Batteries plus put them there, they are heavy. I actually think there is only one of the old ones bad but with where they are located, there is no way I am going to not replace tgem all.

After 3 sets of 8D batteries in 11 years I am switching to Lithium Iron. The existing AGMs are 160 pounds so I'm going to let gravity remove them to a tarp so I can drag them somewhere until a battery company comes to pick them up. The new batteries arrived today - 300 AH, tested to extreme amperage outputs - at 60 lbs vs the AGMs. I hope to install them tomorrow. Try local battery companies - there is value in the lead and some will come pick them up. I'll post again when I've had some time with the new technology. Note I said iron, not ion - much more stable.

Can anyone tell me if there is any way to remove the top of the compartment that houses the batteries. Someone mentioned taking photos of the top to make sure cables are properly replaced but not sure without removing the top how this could be done.I can't think that the batteries were were wired up at the factory with the top on the compartment.

I had a much different experience with purchasing online. We purchaaed our new batteries at Batteries Plus because they picked up most of the shipping cost. The 3 online places I tried wanted to add hundreds of dollars in shipping costs.
