Replacing A/C Compressor on ISL 450

As many of you suggested on my previous post if a new belt broke most likely the compressor is bad. So if I understand from reading the responses on my previous post the best way to access the compressor and remove the bolts is the engine hatch access in the bedroom, correct?

After installing a new compressor Is there anything else that should be done in conjunction with this?

A few questions .

Was the compressor seized ; or just the clutch bearing ?
Was there any 134 A left in the system ?
Have the lines been flushed and the receiver/dryer replaced ?

As Skip said, a lot more to it. When mine blew, it was gears so no metal in the system. It's still going to need to be vacuumed down, new air dryer and possibly a condenser. I am not an AC expert, but know there is more to it than changing the compressor. If there is metal in the lines from the compressor, it needs to be removed.

You should be able to access it from the back. No need to access it from inside. If itís locked up do NOT replace it without flushing at least the low side(suction) line. When compressors are damaged, they almost always land broken pieces in the low side line. Add a new compressor and any debris is sucked right back into the new compressor!

I've had several replaced due to the dealer putting into too high a charge of Freon, but I can assure you that on both my ISL-450 and my X-15 on the Anthem and Cornerstone (respectively) were installed from the back, and there is no need to open the engine hatch in the coach
