Return A/C Vent Filters

Finally getting around to cleaning my (12) return air filters. Has anyone reinstalled without using the two retention clips that secure the filter material to the removable vent cover?

The filter will be sucked into the ducts and end up somewhere. I wouldn't do it. Those 2 flat panels hold the filter from doing just that if its the 2 snap ins on the inner side of the filter housing.

After I posted my question, I thought about it again and came to the same conclusion. Thanks

Has anybody reengineered the way the return air vents are attached to the ceiling? I am not wild about simply screwing and unscrewing from the ceiling board, as some of the holes are within a small fraction of an inch from the edge of the ceiling material. In my 5th wheel, the return air vent frame was permanently attached to the ceiling, and you simply snapped out a center piece that held the filter, cleaned the filter, and then snapped it back in. I'm concerned about constantly removing the screws on the vent frames just to change filters, as I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the thin ceiling material give way.

Spk64, the link took me to a thread on tire rotation. Is this what you intended?

Steve

No, that is weird. The title of the thread is correct but definitely not what I was looking at.
Let's try this.

Look for Pat Bauers post on the subject. Search for magnets should find it. Pat did such a great job that Entegra is now using his system on the 2017 coaches. JMHO

Question: is Pat fix only fix? Is the factory providing a retrofit perhaps?

Nope do not think the factory does that, it just art of the new model upgrades that they do every year. Could not expect them to upgrade our coaches with all the new features each year, but it is an easy mod that just about anyone can do. All JMHO

Pat's vent mod was so good, I did it while on the road. Rare Earth magnets from Home Depot and I found contact cement to work better than epoxy.

How about a good source of replacement filter material that can be cut to fit? I need to replace mine this year since I washed them once already.

Cut them to fit once, two sets, then put them in the washer/dryer when dirty. Works like a charm.
