I dunno. That turret head really presses down hard. Nothing looks, or sounds like it's binding. I'm going to seek help from a RV repair center I trust. I don't know if there is a tension difference, or bumper height difference between the two models. But, I will say, that reflector is mighty thin. I have a tripod setup I don't use anymore, with a Dish HD reflector. I'm going to compare them when I get home and see if the older reflector will bolt the same and also compare thickness.

By the way, the installation instructions do not specify a torque for the mounting bolts. I ain't King Kong, but I tightened them "moderately tight". I estimate 30-40 ft/lbs.

I don't usually make those exceptionally tight. I would call it over snug. I only want them tight enough for the locking swirls on the nuts to grip and not come loose. I've never "torqued" them to see an exact figure, but I would guess it is less than 30 ftlbs. It is not a head bolt on a Cummins....

Keep us posted... If it happens again PM me.

If you're afraid of over torqueing them add a little blue (242) Loctite at assembly. 30 psi sounds about right for that size bolt.

As a side note we had the DIRECTV reflector come loose on our 2013 Adventurer on the way to Alaska in 2013. We heard a noise in the roof that sounded like a rock or hail stone. When we pulled over we found 1 bolt missing, another lying on the roof up against the galley vent, and the remaining 2 hanging on by a couple threads. Fortunately we had dish along that we normally use on the tripod in wooded areas. I stole a couple bolts from it and used nylock nuts rather than the standard ones. It's been over 3 years and we haven't had another problem.

We gave our DirecTV Trav'ler the acid test yesterday. Driving between Phoenix and St George we had head and cross winds of 30 to 50 mph. Considering my speedometer was registering 65 I'm estimating we had over 100 mph winds banging our dish. I haven't been on the roof yet to check for cracks but at least it is still attached and is currently locked on to all three satellites!

We saw three different RVs stopped by the side of the road tearing their awnings off and throwing them in the ditch after they had obviously unrolled across the roof!

Another reason to park it when the winds exceed 35 MPH. It's the gusts that will get you.

Chuck, I agree 100% and normally subscribe to that theory. We should have left it parked in Phoenix for another day or two. My only excuse is we are scheduled to be in Wasilla by the 28th and I am running out of time!

We sure did make some good fuel mileage yesterday when it was a tailwind!

Dave,
I would have to agree with the earlier post. 30 lbs. ft lbs is a lot of torque. When considering that your aqua hot burner is 20 inch pounds. Winegard should be able to tell you the correct tightens and tightening sequence.

We had the same unit for Dish. It WAS stowed.. Somehow it became all wavy( the Dish) around the edges. We have no idea what happened but had to replace the whole system last week!! Each time it stowed it seemed to have changed " shape" .. Very interesting..
