Roof penetration on Classic

I am adding roof mounted MIMO cellular antennas to my routers which I keep in the cabinet above the windshield, passenger side. Seems like the best way would be to penetrate the roof above said cabinet. This worked well on my previous Monaco. Any one done this and have any “gotchas” to watch for?

An alternative would be to go through the roof behind the panel above the door. That’s where the slide, generator and awning switches are. I am a little hesitant to work in this area due all the wiring I expect will be there.

I went through the bathroom ceiling where all the electronics were then mounted the antenna on the middle a/c unit.

Bathroom ceiling sounded like a good idea but after I removed the panel in the bathroom I saw little room to access the roof. And it was filled with wires, including high amp 12VDC and 110VAC lines. I’d be really hesitant to try to get through the roof there, even from the inside up. But thanks for the suggestion.

That’s where I ran mine. Up through the roof in the half bath. I also ran the wires there for my 2400 watts of solar.

I reached my hand and felt around then found a 6 inch area wire free. I took my small drill and drilled a pilot howls then went on the roof and drilled a 5/8” hole.

When I ran my mimo cables through the roof. Was also worried about existing wiring. Was able to remove one of the TV cable plates and use a small endoscope camera and inspect.
Good thing as there were some areas to avoid and did locate a spot with clear access.
Even with that I used a hole saw and cut a small hole in ceiling. Inspected again and then used a long drill up through roof.

Looks like you have some electrical outlets that might be pulled down to inspect prior to adding holes.

Folks have posted in the past that they have gone through the backside of the front cap. This is the vertical area which joins the roof. This will offer added protection to the opening since there will be little to no wind while traveling. You should be able to penetrate near the cabinet. Just a thought.

I went through the right backside of the cap into the side cabinet, the into the front. I used a water tight connector on the back of the cowling. 1 hole and an easy fish tape run.
