Rust Issues

This is the second time rust has streaked down the drivers side (2nd door) from just behind the fender. Also noticed rust stains behind the passenger size first bay door. We have been through a few rain storms both parked and moving. Anyone have any ideas where this is coming from? I will be cleaning and undercoating the underside as soon as it cools down a bit.

I would check the screws along the bottom side of your slide out. See if the heads look rusty. Can you post a picture of the rusted area? When we see that issue, normally that's from where it's coming from. The water is running across the screw heads and it's dripping down the rust. Then it hits the water and thins out across the coach.

On my 14, I replace all of the tec body scerws that hold the underside sheeting that Bobby mentioned with stainless steel tec screws. I went around the entire MH including the wheel wells and replaced all of them.

It wasn't hard, I used a roller stool and just scooted around the entire MH.

My 17 coach had some screws rust out on the drivers rear slide underside. They caused a little rust. A few screws failed and the coach body bowed a little. I replaced them with a slightly larger stainless screw. Much easier job than I expected.

If you have screws rusting on the outer underside of the slide, you may have water getting in the trim piece around the slide. If it is, it could be rotting your slide floor. It’s a common area for leaks as the slide going in and out flexes the trim breaking the caulk seal loose. Here is a pic of the area and some screws out of mine.
