RV Campground near Savannah, Ga

We are headed to Savannah first time ever in late March / early April. Can we get some recommended RV campsites for a couple of Buckeyes? Thanks so much and greatly appreciate the help!! Kerry & Kim

We stayed at the Savannah South KOA in Richmond Hills which was nice but while discovering the area we came across Rivers End Campground which looked like a great spot and we plan to return. Call ahead since Hurricane Matheus did some damage on Tybee Island but it's probably all well now. tel:8007861016

X2 on Richmond Hill KOA

We have stayed there several times on the way from western NC to south FL.

We actually now prefer Coastal GA near Brunswick. Brunswick, like Savannah has a lot of history and places to visit but isn't as well known. Charleston beats them both.

Ditto on the Coastal VA... easy access to 95. Make reservations!

Skidaway Island State Park is closer to Savannah than either of the two mentioned above. The RIvers End at Tybee Island may also work for you, it is about 18 miles from downtown, but it is very tight and crowded, in my opinion. You WILL definitely need reservation anywhere around Savannah, but a visit there is a great experience.

We stayed at Skidaway State Park several years ago. Very spacious. Pick your own site. Highly recommended.

Have stayed at the above mentioned KOA a couple of times and it nice for a couple of days. If you go there and want a good breakfast or dinner and don't want to go far, the truck stop near the interstate has excellent food.

I am a transplanted Buckeye living ins Savannah.

Skidaway Island State Park is our preferred park but it fills up fast on weekends. Very clean park, had some damage from Matthew but they have done a great job cleaning it up. It is a very clean park and has great trails to walk on. Public and Kroger are near by as are several banks and a gas station. Very quiet park and has both full and electric/water only sites. Sites can be reserved online.

Savannah South KOA is nice, a little tight and not much else around it. It's farther from downtown Savannah. Some of the back in sites are tight but the pull through are nice.

Red Gate is convenient to I-16 and 516 and is convenient to the downtown area. Haven't stayed there so can't speak to the campground itself.

Tybee Island itself took damage from Mathew but I have not heard of Rivers End took any damage.

we like Hardeeville-Thomas c/G in Hardeeville,SC...probably closer to the Savannah waterfront than any campground in Savannah....probably in the 10-15 minute range and you come off the bridge right at the visitor center..
While in Savannah, like to recommend Mrs Wilkes Dining Room on 197 W Jones st...only open for lunch from 11-2 Monday to Friday.....to me ,its the best southern cooking I had.....Chuck

We enjoyed Skidaway as well, but as I recall, not all sites had sewer, so book early if that is a priority for you!
