RV consumer group and the Entregra

As a former Dutch Star owner, I have been looking to purchase another used (probably 10 years old or so) quality motorhome. my search and fact gathering has led me to personal favorites such as;

Another Dutch Star
Country Coach
Travel Supreme
Alpine
Entegra
Tiffin Alegro Bus

if you are familiar with the Rv consumer group, you will find that the above motorhome brands are rated pretty high in most categories. But I was confused about it rating the Tiffin and Entegra as not in the 'Fulltiming" rating category like the Dutch Star, Country Coach, and Alpine. Is there something different about the Entegra in construction or living in hot and cold environments that does not give it the "full-time"rating?

RV consumer group and the Entregra

I can’t think of anything. We had 4 Entegras before downsizing to our New Aire. We spend 8-9 months each year in our coach in all kinds of weather and were always very comfortable in our Entegras. They are quiet, easy to heat or cool and really nice to live in for months at a time. I can’t imagine how they determined that! I have lived in them, NO problems, do not let one report sway you from a great coach.

There are many happy owners that are full-timing in their Entegras. The construction is very similar to Newmar and some would argue better. I would ask what resources the rvcg is using to make their determinations. The reviews that I have read about rvcg have indicated that they are not all that useful. A tool perhaps but not an authority to base a buying decision on.

We full timed in our first Entegra for over a year - it was great but I wasn't ready to give up my "stuff" so we built a home and now travel in what is our third Entegra about 4-5 months a year. It's VERY comfy, quiet, cool when it's hot out and warm when it's not. We've been in weather from 112 degrees to the low 30's without any issues. If I ever decide to full time again, it will be in an Entegra.

Our Entegra is the third of three coaches we have lived full time in. It is without a doubt the quietest on the road and most comfortable in all temperatures. The insulation must be fantastic, because our air conditioners and heater cycles a whole lot less in this coach.
If I ever find myself with a little more cash, I would upgrade to an Anthem or Cornerstone in a heart beat. (I like the added bells and whistles on those).

Many people fulltime without issue in Tiffins and Entegras. I think it is irresponsible for RV Consumer Group to make that statement without giving reasons for it. To me, they are way off base. I think Entegra would be better suited to fulltiming than almost any other coach in its category.

However, the OP will have a hard time finding a 10 year old Entegra Coach. Ten years ago, Entegra was just acquiring the assets of Travel Supreme and they didn’t really produce much volume until the years after 2011.

I agree that the Entegra is a quality Coach. I remember test driving driving one at the Pomona Rv show several years ago. It was a smooth and quiet ride with great handling. I am now looking at used Aspires, model 39E. I just don't want anythng longer than a 40 footer.

Not sure yet what my price range will be, as I don't want to put much cash down.

Perhaps the RV consumer group was basing their decision on the fact that Entegra states that their coaches are not intended or warranted for full time use. Despite saying this I have not heard of Entegra denying any warranty issue because someone was full time.
