RV wash system

Anyone have any luck with spotless wash systems fo they work is the cost worth investment and always having to buy those pesky water treatment filters

A few of us have built our own that work just as well as high priced units.

Yes, they work; yes, they are expensive but so is getting your coach cleaned. Cleaning a coach on the road and hand drying it is pretty much impossible so some sort of deionizing system for the road is a must for extended trips. I don’t travel constantly and replace the resin once a year. JMHO

In our previous coach, we installed a filter/dual membrane/pump and controls into our '06 Dynasty. For the past 10 years, every gallon of water we used came in thru the shore hose, thru the RO system and into the fresh tank. We then used the onboard pump to draw from the fresh tank for everything, including the place in the wet bay where we connected our pocket hose for washing the coach. Zero spots. Zero nasty taste from bad park water. Fantastic! Plumbing devices looked as good as new when we traded her in for our new little Entegra "C", last month.

I use a Simple Chuck double tank system mounted to a hand cart and a Small pressure mounted above the tanks.

Cost about $400 and needs refill cartridges about 6-8 mos, $150.

I wash 3 cars weekly and the RV about once a month.

Yes it works very well and definitely saves me a whole lot of time and wear and tear on decrepit shoulders.

I suggest using a bypass valve so you can use regular water for initial wash and rinse and only use the spot-free for a final rinse for filter longevity

One issue is a lot of campgrounds have rules about washing vehicles.

Also, some of the “approved “ campground Motorcoach washers aren’t so great.

So, the proverbial “ caught between a rock and a hard place,”

That said, I bought a CR Spotless and a small Ryobi power washer to do it myself.

I have a spotless CR system. My problem was replacing the resin. Spotless prices got out of hand last time I looked. I have not used it in a few years after I sold the coach but now I have a small trailer and a new truck so I think I'm going to revitalize it and buy some new resin, maybe some off brand stuff.

I use it at home, so there is no problem from the RV police. It works very well and you can air dry to a spotless finish. Be aware, that once the resin is depleted you can get some very nasty spots that supposedly can damage the finish of your vehicle. I've never had that problem.

Another great product is this Waterless Car Wash stuff. They sell some expensive application nonsense, but I just use the product with clean cloths. It does an amazing job. You do have to rinse the grime off though if it's really dirty/muddy

De-ionizer vs. Water softener

Forgive me in advance for my ignorance (I flunked basic kitchen chemistry) but I have a question please:

If I have a water softener installed on my input water line to the MH, do I also need a de-ionizer to wash the coach to prevent water spots? Are the water softener and the de-ionizer the same thing but in different clothes?

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

RV wash system

I don’t think the softener will do as good a job as the deionizer. Don’t know the chemistry answer. I wondered if I put my double On the Go softener before the CR Spotless would the resin last longer.

No. Soft water still leaves spots. I also use the CR spotless rinse, and it's important to note the resin inside the CR lasts longer if the water is not pre-softened.
