I have no idea why the fan hit. It does put it a little closer to the cover, but there is plenty of clearance there and even if the fan touched the cover it would just rub due to the direction it turns.
Personally, I would not install the fan without the additional washer, preferable the nylon since the ones I used were slightly thicker than the steel.
I don't mean to worry you, but I would be safe rather than sorry. Noel

Hahaha yup... Bet you wouldn't want to stand to close for to long.. Then tell em their shower is to noisy...they should "soften " the water😂😂 As i do agree some noise is acceptable and some is not.. I also know you just cant "fix" stupid.
I will get the new fans..

I installed the new quiet fans today....The job was quick and easy....The reduction in the noise level is remarkable, both inside and out....This was time and money well spent !!

Just got off the phone with the RVP technician. He told me I was 13th to be sold for replacement. He was a little irate to start with but then we got to chatting and he calmed down. Seems the original reason for the change which they have not initiated at the factory yet but are going to in the near future was the fact that the mach 10 fan blades which this new one is, cost 2 dollars less than the original mach 8 blade. This was their main reason for the change. Then when testing they also discovered 2.5 db noise reduction at 3 feet and also a slight increase in btu's because of increased efficiency. Mine will be coming in just a few days.

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for the good information.
Just ordered the replacement fan kits. I asked about the extra spacer washer that I read about on this forum, Dick, the sales representative, said the extra spacer washer is now included in the kit.

That's strange since it appears to be necessary from what others have said. If they are going to provide a fix to a know issue why not provide the full fix?

Received mine yesterday (8-19-14) and no washer or additional spacer. But did have a "hat" section (see pic) that is to be mounted on top of the a/c elec box. Still looks like a simple install that I'll do when 110 heat index in Houston is over! Tommy

I replaced my fans a couple of weeks back . I asked for the extra washers when ordering but they weren't sent. Using the original washer the fan shaft extended a little past the new blade . I went to Ace and bought oversize nylon washers. They were just over 1/8 thick and brought the fan up flush with the shaft. Adding the original washer also put the fan higher than the shaft and created a slight wobble. So just the one oversize washer works for me. All blades clear the electrical boxes from 1/4" to 3/8"

Well, I was about to order the Mach 8 fans and my DW says they should be under warranty. So I didn't have an answer for her, what should I tell her?

Like I was told this morning by the sales rep. Not a warranty issue as the A/C works as advertised and they have made no claims as to noise or lack there of.

The fans are and upgrade not a broken item, just like a throw rug for the tile floor, it's an upgrade. We are currently in a wide open area in the Keys and the fan noise is not as bad as in our driveway at home.

Got my fan blade yesterday UPS second day so it was fast. Of course since I am in Iowa, I am not that far from Wichita where the factory is. Went on with no difficulty whatsoever. It is still noisy compared to the old Dometic on the crappy Keystone but is more subdued now and sounds much better.

I was really happy with the reduction in sound INSIDE the coach too!

Installed my new fans and I can tell a big difference on sound outside and maybe a little less noise inside. Easy install.
