I noticed that parked in the shed the AC units were loud and after reading this thread I ordered 3 new fan blades. After installing one I turned it back on to compare it to the other 2 and the slight whine that has been discussed was very noticeable. I replaced the 2nd one thinking that it was just my imagination and it was just as bad.
My wife got home and went inside and came out to ask me what I did that created that whine.
I took them back off and reinstalled the factory fans. I guess it is all in your hearing, but the new blades whine is much worse than the noise of the factory ones.

ItsWhatWeDo, I installed the fan kits this weekend and like you the whine was very noticeable on the outside and inside. I swapped them back and forth a couple of times and I and my wife did not like the hum so I put the factory ones back on.
Maybe roof design has something to do with the noise on the inside.

Its nice to know I am not the only one. Atleast with the old ones while the neighbors are complaining outside. I can sit inside and not listen to them or that loud hum.

I can't imagine you think the new fans make a humming noise that is louder than the old fans. Ours are at least 50% quieter than the old style. They do make a slight hum, but certainly not something that is a distraction on the interior of the coach. Sorry you don't like the new style, but I doubt you'll have a problem selling them to someone on here. Noel

JMHO. I put in the new fan kit and found them a little quieter inside and basically a different, less annoying pitch outside. I can still hear them outside but I don't think anybody will complain.

I think the fan noise is so much lower that we are hearing the fan motor noise for the first time :-)

Even if it is the same db level as the old one, the pitch/frequency emitted bothers me less.

Have the newly designed blades already been incorporated into the units rolling off the line now? I was expecting all kinds of noise from mine, but honestly, can hardly hear it. Much quieter than my previous coach. May be due to hearing loss thanks to Pratt F100 & GE F110.

Can anyone pinpoint the production date the new AC fan blades became standard in the production line?

I was also a jet mechanic in the Air Force, one and two engine, and also have the bad hearing loss. You must have the new blades as I can sure hear my old style blades. My change over is going to have to wait until it cools off, it was 110 degrees on my roof the other day inside of a metal hanger.

I heard on Redmond that Airxcel has only just started shipping units with the new blades. Nothing works better than going up on top and taking off a shroud and getting eyes on.

Don't even have to take the shroud off. Just look through the openings, 3 large blades you've got the new style fans. Noel
