Safe-t-Plus Steering Stabilizer

I will try again

Has anyone had the Safe-t-Plus Steering Stabilizer installed, and had a blowout? Did the stabilizer help with control of the coach?

Never had a blow out but it sure helps when a on coming 18 wheeler passes.

Safe-T-Plus Endorsement

Best addition to our RV we've made. Handles so much better, especially when windy. We've only had it for 2,000 miles, no tire issues as yet.

First thing I had installed on our Newmar Canyon Star after delivery. Before install, felt like I was wrestling a hippo driving down the road. After install the coach can be handled single handed.

It's possible you'll not find an answer to your specific question because there's not that many people who have had front tire blowouts.

What you will get are the pros and cons of installing the Safe-T Plus system.

I did also, on my canteen star and later on my Insignia. Both had solid front axles. I don't know if it would benefit an IFS

I think once you get up into the new coaches with EZ Steer you'll not feel a need for it. I was passed by a gazillion 18 wheelers on my maiden journey and it tracked true every time.

Our bus has IFS and we bought the safety steer simply for insurance if a front tire blows out. I always thought our bus drove great, semis, wind, etc. Since we had it installed, I couldn't believe the difference.

Now, I haven't driven one yet, but I have read hundreds of owner's analysis of what they got when they upgraded or bought a new coach with it installed.

My opinion, given a lot of reading is that (some like it, and more think that it doesn't do much to the handling of their coach). My sense is that this is another one of those innovations that once installed by some manufacturer, then all the other manufacturers decide that they better add it also or they wont be competitive, and the first company that added it, did it only because they thought that for a year or two, they would have a gadget that no one else has and they would gain a sales advantage.

Here is what I know (and I haven't had a front tire blow out thankfully), I can't imagine how much better my Cornerstone could drive with it, than my current coach drives without it. My '19 Cornerstone is a dream to drive, and that it is high cross winds, sharply canted roads, etc. etc. This thing is just easy to drive and a pleasure to navigate down the road.

I know it is not your blowout question, but check with the front end shop that will do your alignments. My shop, Florida Spring and Axle will not align a front end with one installed. They will remove it, align the front end, customer road test and approves, then they will try to talk a person out of reinstalling it. Once the Safety Steer is reinstalled, there is no guaranty on the alignment. Just what they told me when they asked if I had a steering unit when I made my last appointment.
