Safelite glass warning

This past winter I had Safelite in Jacksonville Fl install a new windshield. I forget who, but shortly after sharing it here someone warned me that they don't always do the right job with motorhomes.

Fast forward to my AIR and the windshield gasket was popping out. It turns out it was not installed with urethane or primer. Now Safelite is trying to cheap out on the fix. The coach is at S&S, Mark Becker is their windshield expert who notes that it needs to be removed and rest, but Safelite won't pay him. They I'm sure are worried he'll break it upon removal. Not my problem. It should be noted that S$S install all of Entegra's windshields for the factory

Anyway be warned, Do not use Safelite. I'll update the board once I resolve this

I will second your experience with Safelite. All advertising hype, little performance.

Like the woman on the commercial that couldn't take her kid to soccer practice because she had a rock chip?

Safelite quoted twice the price for my Tacoma windshield replacement. Local glass company was much cheaper. When they noticed that I had not responded to their quote, they lowered the price by $10.

Regards, Jerry

We are quibbling over a few hundred dollars that they don't want to cough up. It's so annoying!

They pulled the same thing on one of my Corvette windshields they installed. I took it to the dealer where they made the corrections, Safelite refuse the repair cost so I canceled the credit card charge. This was on a restoration so no insurance company involved.

Safelite has a lifetime warranty on the install.
At least it came with my new Jeep windshield

That was the problem, they said. "that was the best they could do". The Corvette dealers body shop had no problem fitting the corners without black sealant all over the chrome corners.

Our local Safelite franchise is good. They do what they say they will do, when they say they will do it, and the job is done well. I'll use them again when I have glass work to be done.

Contrast this with a Safelite franchise in Florida that we have both too much and not enough experience with. They made an appointment for a mobile tech in a place they won't go for a time they couldn't come. When I summed it up that way, the manager even agreed with me. He blamed the national call center. My response was, "I see. We're done. I'll have someone else do it." And we did.

I win:
Finally Safelite bumped this up to a super who agreed to do the right thing. It took a strong letter to my first point of contact, but I win, I hope lol.

S&S is doing the factory authorized repair
