San Antonio to LA help
All
I'm scheduled to spend two weeks 'working' in LA the weeks of Sept 2-14 and am looking for some advice:
1. Travel route. We don't want to head east on I10 thru El Paso (done that too many times - boring) and are looking for recommendations via Route 66 ... Thoughts?
2. Resort recommendations. Right now we are looking at the Anaheim Resort but if y'all know of others please let me know.
Thanks for all the help...we read this forum regularly and find it very informing.
Sincerely
Jeff & Terri Burklo

i10 is your best bet. I always stay at the KOA Pomona fair grounds, the staff there is exceptional.

If you jump up to I40, just be ready for one ROUGH road in the Western half of AZ, and I mean ROUGH!

Sa-2-la?
Hi
Not too many options, unless you want to add lots of miles, But we have varied it by using I-8 after Tuscon, (winter time!!) which has the advantage of missing the "Phoenix" rat race!!. The Mission R-V Park at Tucson is P-A and a nice Park, to boot (cash only).

Yes, I8 is a scenic route that bypasses Phoenix, I take that way every now and then. It ads like a grand total of 20 miles to the trip, but you go up the coast in California to get to LA. it is worth it :-)

Great ... thanks for all the input. I was afraid I10 was our only real option so I10 it is. And we will take I8 outside Tucson.
Again... thanks for all the help. This forum is EXTREMELY helpful.

Jeff, take I-8 west at Casa Grande. Then in Gila Bend, catch state 85 north. This will take you back up to 10 west of Phoenix.

Sa- 2- la
Hi
Been looking up last years "streets and trips". We came East from HEMET, In Oct/Nov. Using 79 (Banning) I-10 (Indio) 86/78 to near El Centro to pick up I-8. Stopping @ The Morengo Nations Casino (Off I-10, Dry Camp) Oasis on 86, (free oranges, lemons and dates!) and the Quechon Casino, Nr Yuma (dry Camp). Another cheap stopover is Augies At Gila Bend (Full Hookup $14!! and Laundry!!). On I-10 Saddle Mountain @ Tonopah is good but not cheap!!.
