Hi Dr. Mike,

I'm not convinced that RM is still supporting my Xite with map updates. For quite some time (more than a year), each time I connect the SD card to the RM Dock software, it shows that my maps are up to date.

Rather than chase down some way to fix my RM map update issue, I purchased a Garmin RV 890 (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/705997/pn/010-02425-00) and have been very pleased with it. WiFi connection for system/map updates and Bluetooth connectivity to a phone app that allows remote insertion of waypoints from my copilot's phone while we're underway.

When push comes to shove for you, you might consider the Garmin device rather than a RM device.

Take care,
Stu

Stu There is a fie (a cofig file I think) that has to be deleted before it will update. Its been discussed up here several times. Have you tried that process?

Yes, several times.

It's gotten to the point that I feel I'm spending too much time chasing a solution that, even if achieved, will do little more than refresh a less than optimal system.

The Garmin is so stupid easy (and fast) to update maps that I find it to be quite superior.

We're taking the coach for annual chassis service in a few days. A few minutes ago, I grabbed the Garmin RV 890 to recharge the battery and check for updates. In less than 30 seconds after powering it up, it had connected to my WiFi and I had made a couple of menu selections that returned both system and maps up to date.

Of course, that's IMHO (which I value highly).

Take care,
Stu

On my 2017 Entegra Aspire the SD card is in the compartment above the driver's seat right side. Insertion in your PC or laptop at home will allow backup to your home PC od some files, but not your checklists or fuel records. At risk of misusing this reply to an excellent thread, let me give you two new complaints about the RM: ISSUE # 1: Although I have sent in new highway traffic patterns, the RM people must be ignoring then, because when I pass the FL SR301 turnoff on the new highway to 10E to Jacksonville, my RM thinks I'm driving through a field. ISSUE #2: My RM Sirius XM went TU. After some unsuccessful sesions with Sirius XM Advanced Tech Support, no refresh signal worked. After checking operation on FM/AM, XM Sirius Icon was "greyed out" and I can't get the XMS screen back. Shorty tern solution: Keep the unit, cancel the subscription to that radio ID, and don't look back.
