I've used something to keep the belt off my neck for years and I've tried most of the products in this thread. This is what I'm using now and I like it the best.

And the diagram in the add shows it being used incorrectly.

Shoulder harness slack is a no no!

Shoulder harnesses are supposed to be tight across the chest for a reason! God forbid, upon impact the harness locks into place to keep your upper body in place and not allow it to move forward at a high rate of speed and stop sharply putting all that energy in to your neck! Newer couches may even have what are called pretensioners, which are a small explosive device that pull the seat belt tight upon impact, but will not take up excessive slack in the belt!

I don't have it across my upper arm like the diagram. I wear it like the woman in the blue dress. Am I doing it wrong? Is it not safe? If so, why?

I was pointing out that the diagram in the first image shows the adjuster being used incorrectly, that is all. Since I do not have a photo showing you using the adjuster I cannot presume to criticize you. Now, if you posted a selfie showing you using the adjuster the way it is shown in that diagram then I would criticize your incorrect use.

I have the same problem in all vehicles. My solution is to wrap a hoodie or towel or something similar around the seat belt where it would ride on the neck. It keeps the seatbelt off my neck and is way more comfortable.
