Because that is my opinion. If you like it, fine.
BTW, yes, I have the best and top of the line Sleep Number.... But I still think it is not worth the exorbitant price and find the quality to be extremely poor. And find the quality of sleep inferior to a quality inter spring mattress.
JMO, and you have yours, and that is fine.

The OP had a question about what others preferred for sleep number, not whether the Sleep Number bed was good or no good. Seems we need to stay on topic.
OTOH, the "number" or any mattress selection is a very personal matter. The fact that the sleep number bed offers an alternative to two people who have all together different sleeping comfort levels and preferences is a benefit worthy of the added cost to employ. If DW and DH like the same "hardness" then maybe they don't require the more expensive alternative.

Unfortunately... And when I replace it, it will not be with another Sleep Number.

But back to the OP, what is your number? Maybe that's the problem with yours.

Let's chill out folks and not make this personal.
IMHO, Sleep Number beds (as well as the number chosen on them) is a very individual thing and members seem to be polarized on the topic. One either loves them or hates them.
Such is life.

If I did not sweat in the Sleep number bed I would not mind it. I like it at 80 or 90 but even though I keep the AC or heat set at 65 at night I still wake up feeling like I am stuck to it. We even put a 3" cool topper on it but I would rather not have a Sleep Number bed. I tried several different settings and anything from 60-90 is comfortable.

Mine is 95, DW is 35.
We have tried all numbers high and low. The Sleep Number bed we have is the best they offer. It is a king size adjustable with the best pillow top they offer.
I know that if you paid as much money as we did for this bed, you may not want to have someone be honest and say that they think the bed is not worth it's cost. The problems we have is the bed itself, not the number it is set to.
A few examples;
1) Within a few months the cheep plastic hinges they used on the adjustable platform broke. Instead of using a metal hing, they used a cheep plastic hinge that was simply a creased plastic. Obviously this was a poor design and not made to last.
2) The baffles between the two separate air chambers make the bed uneven and lumpy. This is especially true over time.
3) The pump failed immediately after the warranty was up. To replace it was very costly.
4) Regardless of the number it is set to, the bed either sags in the middle or bulges up in the middle when at a higher number. Therefore, at lower numbers you can develop neck, back or hip pain. On the higher number you feel like you are on top of a bump in the bed.
5) Other quality beds are far better priced and provide better support and comfort.
Others that are considering purchasing a Sleep Number need to be aware that it is not a quality bed and is not worthy of the cost. JMHO.
