The trucking industry is so short on drivers they are forced to look at this option. It is well known in law enforcement circles that if you are a warm body you can be rushed through the training right now and head down the highway. There are some great, safe and responsible drivers on our roads however there are way too many dangerous OTR drivers putting all of us in great peril. Then you add the motoring public who think these large trucks can stop on a dime and the recipe is there for carnage. I really don't think driverless trucks are the answer. Better pay, better routes and responsible trucking companies going back to paying by the mile instead of the load might be a good start.

If it was 100% autonomous vehicles I would be all in. The mix of humans and computers is going to be extremely difficult to master. A computers biggest weaknesss is dealing with unpredictable data.

The thought of self-driving 18-wheelers on the roads scares me to death! The ones with drivers are bad enough! I know that most truckers are excellent drivers but the distracted ones and newbies are giving them a bad rap!
