Self inflating tires

Saw this on the web. Aperiatech has come out with an add on device to each wheel, intended for semis but maybe it'll hit RVs, that uses the rolling energy of the wheel to keep your tires exactly where you want them. They are called Halo hubs, cost $299 ea. Not made for front tires but 4 would do most tag RVS. Not much more expensive than a TPMS. I don't know the tire pressures supported or the tolerance.

Self inflating tires

If they could make this work on the front wheels, I'd buy it. They claim to be working on it...

Great concept. Who said all of the great ideas have already been patented?

I hope they come out with a polished version for RV's. Thanks for sharing that.

A bit more expensive than a TPMS. For my tag axle Phaeton it would be about $12000 and there would be nothing to notify you of air loss greater than the capacity of the Halo. You would still need a TPMS for the toad.
Still, it's an interesting idea.

We used them on logging trucks. Different design same purpose.
When you hit the bush in the winter you deflated and therefore had better traction. (also worked great in sandy conditions)When you got back to the pavement you inflated them. The only thing was the tire were hot and inflating a warm tire is not recommended unless it is ambient temp.

Just my two cents worth. But I would not like to see them on a motor home as I believe there are people who would not be using them correctly. Improper inflation is dangerous.
