Seven pin connector problem
I ran into a problem last week that I think I read about on here several months ago, but don't remember who or when and couldn't find it.
I had no lights to the toad when I left Tn. When I got to Mo. I started checking at the seven pin plug and sure enough had nothing. Called Spartan and they said the usual, check fuses etc. and take it to a shop. Really, Friday afternoon and a 100 miles from a shop.
Anyway they sent me a couple of schematics. All fuses checked good so I started checking connections and the first one I looked at in the engine compartment when I shook it looked like it was loose at the front of the seven pin plug.
Long story short the front of the seven way is not hard wired. It has a connector similar to the back. Problem is there's only one lock on the connector. If anything hits the side without the lock it will cock the connector and unplug the pins, although it's still connected and hard to see.
What should be done in my opinion, and what the post said months ago, is to turn the bracket over and put the plug on top of the cross member out of harms way. I sent Spartan an email, but haven't gotten a response.
Anyway if you ever lose lights to your toad look at the forward side of that seven pin plug or better yet turn the bracket over. Noel

Good reminder Noel. I think that post was by hawgguy and he had a photo of how to turn the 7 pin plug.

I also had that problem and posted it. Hawgguy was right. I found out mine was a result of the Entegra sign hitting the 7 way connector typically when in reverse and a slight grade. Anyway easy fix if you turn the 7 pin up.

Easy fix - flip it. I thought it was just my coach. The stock position is absurdly low and my connector was demolished and the wires dangling. Easy fix. New connector from eTrailer, new bolts from the hardware store and improved engineering by flipping it to mount on top of the cross member.

Output of the 7 pin to the toad
I am setting up the Jeep with a 7 pin harness from Mopar at home. I will then be taking the Jeep to pickup the motorhome and want to check before leaving that the harness works. Is the output from the MH simply 12 volts to common on the outputs for the lights your trying to illuminate?
Thanks for any info that will allow me to simulate the output from the motorhome to the toad to check this out.
Regards,
Jim

Yes, everything going through the plug is twelve volt. As long as you wired the plug correctly on the Jeep you should be good to go by checking it before leaving. Noel

Checked mine again today, and it's a Cornerstone thing. Thankfully the Anthem is already mounted on top, but I can see if the plug was mounted below where it would really be a problem. I wonder why the difference in mounting between the CS and the Anthem's?

I had that on our 2007 Allegro Bus with the Mountain Master GT chassis too. The mudflap hit the connector when the wind blew it back when driving so I reversed the connector. It was the same way on our Cornerstone so I knew what to expect. I removed mine but added a wider pierce to the bracket before flipping it. The wider piece let me mount a quick disconnect air coupling for my M&G air brakes on the Jeep.
