Shower Drain Grate/Clogging
How is the shower drain grate held in place in a ‘17 anthem?
I am experiencing a slow shower drain and need to remove the grate for cleaning the P-Trap. Harsh chemicals are probably not recommended.
Anybody have experience with this?

Pat,
The center section should come out. It will take some very patient delicate work to get it up the first time without damaging the fins but it will come up. If this is the first time removing it it will be stuck down very well.
At the outer edge of the finned area is where to work around the perimeter with a small flat screwdriver to pry it up.

I thought perhaps it was held in place with silicone caulk...seems that instead of plumbers putty.

Should not be any plumbers putty or caulk on the center most section but you never know. The shampoo and soap scum does a really good job of glueing it in place.

Easier to just get some zip stick drain cleaners at home depot....and they are single use disposable devices. They go through the grate and snag all the hair/crud, pull them back out and viola'! Clean drain.
The grate on our '17 Cornerstone was actually set into mortar, so couldn't get it out anyway without breaking something.....

Clogged Drain
When you get the drain cover off, use a "Drain Weasel"
Found at Amazon, Home Depot, etc.
Used this on my drains at home and in bus. Works Great.

Just this morning I poured a cup of baking soda & half gallon of vinegar down shower and kitchen drains. Followed up with a couple quarts of boiling water.
All better, need to try same for stick house when I get back.
Due to hepco valves many discourage snakes or zip sticks in RVs
