Just the water soften, makes the spots almost non-existent when using the squeegee.

I just use the cheap $.33 a box salt from Walmart. All the salt does is clean the mineral deposits off of the resin beads. I don't think the softener knows if it's sea salt, kosher salt or Walmart salt. Now if I was seasoning a steak, that would be a different story.
I found last year how easy the resin beads are to change and I will be doing that every few years now.

I found out using not using bar soap made cleaning the shower very easy. I was amazed that the bar soap was causing 90% of the soapscum and mineral desposits.

Johnny - we have a glass shower in our S&B and use Rain-X glass cleaner on it once a week. Shower water runs off it, same in the coach. Makes it easier to keep both clean.

Vance,
I have this one as it was one of the first ones out years ago. Now there are several manufactures. They all do the same thing,. Get one that is the easiest to recharge. http://www.amazon.com/On-The-Go-Port...Water+Softener
If solution has to be mixed up to recharge one....I'd look at one that just takes a box of salt and a 10 minute back flush. Foot print for storage in the basement is another issue to look at.
