Your definition of "around" could be different than mine. But we stayed in Mitchell, SD. It is about 75 miles west of Sioux Falls. It is also the home of the Corn Palace. We stayed at a small campground named Bett's Campground it is 1/4 mile south of I-90. For three nights it was around $100 total.

Coming east from there is a small town of Welcome, Mn. Campground there is named Checker's, it is a Passport America campground. Using Passport America for us it was just $22.00/night. It is about 1/2 mile south of I-90.

Minnehaha County fairgrounds has several sites. Right in the center of everything and grassy sites not too close to the freeway.

Just down the road about 45 miles is the Blue OX factory. If you don't own a Blue Ox hitch it is 15.00 per night for full hook ups, if you own a Blue Ox hitch its free. Campground is very nice. Pender, Nebraska

Pender is actually about 125 miles from Sioux Falls.

There is a KOA in Sioux Falls but is on the glide path for the airport. There is also a KOA in Yankton which is better. Stayed there 5 or 6 times. There is a stockyard there that smells a bit but a nice little town.

Just passed through that area going from Spearfish to Indiana. Slim pickings and was sick of one night roadside campgrounds so we Wally World it in Mitchell. It was ok, no issues but up early and moved on.

We’ve always stayed at the Cabela’s in Mitchell. Now that they no longer allow overnight parking, we’ve been looking for a place too. Not too sure about that Walmart since one person on FB said there must have been 15 RV’s parked there overnight when they stopped. Not sure how long they will continue to allow that.

Yeah, the whole Cabelas thing is a big fiasco. There were to class A, 2 5th wheels , a class c and a class B van the night we were there at Walmart. Not great, but just wanted to rock n roll in the AM
