Sirius XM antenna

Just took delivery of a 2023 Esteem last Friday.

Got around to begin playing with the Sirius XM finally yesterday. When I touch the Sirius icon on the dash screen, it says Check Antenna.

That is also what it said when we did the PDI at the dealer, but were told it was because we were inside a building. That seemed logical, at the time.

Now it still says....Check Antenna.

But where IS the antenna?? We know what it looks like, but have no idea where to find it.

The antenna will be a small "puck" looking thing on the roof. Before you mess with it, find the Sirius adapter that plugs into the radio. Unplug it from the radio, then plug it back in. Also, if the antenna lead to the adapter plugs in, do the same with that plug. I occasionally will get the check antenna message and doing the unplug/plug routine will make the radio recognize the adapter.

I checked the roof and was unable to find the "puck". I did try unplugging the antenna wire from the Sirius module but was unable to reach the connection from the module to the back of the radio.

My 2010 Fleetwood came with a "Sirius ready" radio, which meant could be uses for Sirius, but did not have the antenna or adapter. I seem to remember getting a similar message when I finally decided to subscribe, years later. I had to find a receiver and antenna on eBay, because it was an older discontinued model by then. Maybe call the dealer and confirm it has those?

Edit, I now see you have a module, so nevermind.

On my Aspire, the antenna puck is on the roof, near the seam between the roof and front cap.

I was on the roof yesterday, putting a Max Air cover over the bathroom fan roof vent. So I did a good look around and inspection of seams, etc. No antenna to be found anywhere.

Also discovered the access point to add a Sim Card to the Winegard antenna is almost covered up with caulk.

Added to the growing list of problematic things that need attention.

The joy of a new RV. (If there is such a thing)

Entegra over the years have installed the Sirius antenna in different locations. Some have been installed on the roof, covered with too much sealant caused that problem. Other have been installed in the cap with loose antenna connects causing that problem. Best suggestion is to call Entegra and see where it is installed in your coach and go from there.

Yep, tried to call early yesterday. Monday, so got the expected "All customer service representatives are busy helping other customers".

Filled out the online email form to address the issue. Hoping to have a response in 48 hours or so. This is nothing urgent or life threatening. Just frustrating.

Day 4 of ownership, and we only have a list of 7 things that need attention!!
Buckle up. Somehow, I'm anticipating prolific future posts on this forum.

Normal for a Monday morning with everyone getting home from weekend trips with questions. Tues-Thurs best time to call. Fridays are also busy with questions before people leave for the weekend , both customer and employees.
Day 4 of ownership, where is your selling dealer?

Email response from Entegra Customer Service states that the Sirius antenna is installed by Ford, typically on top of, or somewhere under the dash.

I don't see how you could get good reception in a Class C with the antenna under. or on the dash. It should be on the roof, or as high inside as possible. I made a bracket to stick my magnetic puck to and have it right up against the ceiling in the cabover area. The styrofoam roof is transparent to satellite signals so it gets very good reception, only dropping out occasionally when driving.

That was exactly our thought.

My Sirius antenna is on the cab’s roof. I have added a picture. I hope this helps you find your antenna.

By the way, we bought our 2022 Entegra Esteem 27u new last April. We are still getting warranty work completed. We also had to just learn and fix several problems ourselves.

It was very frustrating, since I had never owned an RV before, to learn that the industry has, in my opinion, very poor quality control.

One thing I learned was to skip calling Entegra and just call the manufacturer. The manufacturers were much more willing to help me than Entegra was. For instance, our solar controller wiring was hooked up incorrectly at the factory. It took two phone calls with Go Power for me to understand what needed to be done. I changed the wiring in order to get it working correctly.

On a positive note, we really like our Esteem and have enjoyed camping in it.

Good luck!
