SiriusXM unit location

I recently had an RV dealer program a new slide remote for our 2014 Anthem. Now my siriusxm doesn’t activate and I am wondering if they got in behind the Xcite unit or the actual SiriusXM radio and accidentally unplugged a SiriusXM antenna lead.

There may be no correlation between the remote programming and the current SiriusXM issue. I’m not sure. I don’t know where the slide remote receiver is but the tech told me it was on the driver’s side up front somewhere.

Can anyone point me to the location of the actual SiriusXM radio so I can check for a pulled wire ?

I pulled the Xcite head unit out as far as the wires would allow but all I could see was yhe camera controller.
Thanks in advance

The tech is correct. The slide programming is in the outside compartment below the drivers seat. The XM antenna is on the roof and plugs into the back of the radio on the 14's. They are about 4 foot apart, one inside, the other is outside.

The slide remote receiver is in the front driver's side compartment under drivers seat.
The Sirius receiver in my 14 Anthem is a small box behind the xcite unit. There is a plug from the radio to Sirius unit that can easily come unplugged. The antenna leave the Sirius unit and goes to the flat antenna on the roof.
Later...

Not sure how you pulled the unit out, on mine, there are 6-7 screws that hold the dash cover that the unit is sitting in, Remove those, and have a towel or something over the cup holders, and carefully pull the whole thing out and rest it there. You should have a fairly good view of all the wires and behind all those units and can check the antenna connection. There may be some cable ties that keep the wires in a bundle that need to be cut to allow more slack to take the dash unit out.

Watch the AC control unit as it is attached, and not connected the best way to the dash material - I had to do some repair taking mine off the first time.

Ray is correct, the XM plug on the back of the radios do come out easy. On mine I had to take a wrap of black electric tape on the end of the metal plug end where it meets the cable so it would stay in. Leave enough metal that it still make ground contact with the radio. Check the FH antenna connection while you have it out. IIRC they were loose connections as well.

Thanks to all

I have not had a chance to look into the SiriusXM radio issue, and I am away from the coach for a couple of weeks.

However, the information posted so far is of MUCH help.

As to how I pulled the Xcite head out, on my coach the head is in a "tray", that allows it to slide in and out by removing some tiny screws on the corner ears of the head unit. Unfortunately, there is only enough slack in the wires for me to peek into the cavity just above the back rear of the head unit (tilting it forward without pulling too hard on the wires).

Next I will remove the dash portion (carefully) that holds the head, the AC control unit, etc. I am dealing with some bizarre camera behavior at the same time and when I did peek into the cavity I saw the camera controller there.

The Sirius XM radio worked just fine in the past. I previously had an issue where the bottom drawer was catching on some wires in behind the drawer. I had removed the drawer to move the wires out of the way. I may be the guilty culprit for dislodging the Sirius camera antenna lead up above the wires I moved. The coach was sitting for a long period between my drawer "repair" and this last time I tried the SiriusXM radio, so I am not sure if I did the deed.

In case anyone is curious, I posted the camera issue in post https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/hea...ff-588505.html

I am also going to try to disable the marker / dash lights from dimming the Xcite display. I travel with my marker lights on in the daytime, and when I activate them in daylight the Xcite display becomes virtually unusable, as it dims way too much.

One thing is for sure, when I get done the work I have ahead of me I will be familiar with the systems.

Thanks again to all.

Have you looked on the radio settings? In both the general radio settings and the navigating settings you can turn off night mode.

Ray,

I finally got a chance to look into the radio settings and I found what you described.

Looks like that will deal with it, thanks so much.

While attempting to diagnose the issue with my SiriusXM radio (worked fine then suddenly stopped working).

This coach is new to us so we are working out the bugs.

After opening the dash I found the SiriusXM module dangling below the mass of wires. I tied it up loosely with a cable tie so it can't fall down again. Then I checked the antenna lead that plugs into the module. Next I checked the coupler that the antenna lead plus into, which comes from a lead from the radio itself. I plugged both together firmly. Unfortunately I did not read the previous posts thoroughly, and I assumed the lead from the radio itself was hardwired in. Might have to pull the dash apart again !

I will pull the coach out of the shop today / tomorrow to see if the SiriusXM works with the limited "push together" I performed.

However, while digging around behind the dash I found a very small grey lead that had been unplugged. It is tiny, like a GPS antenna lead or an XM radio antenna lead, but both are plugged in. The lead is a light grey with a shiny insert plug on the end. Anybody have any idea where this might belong?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide !

If nothing with a gray wire plugs into the head unit, many owners of the Classics unplugged some of the camera wires for the blinkers so the display would not change from the rear view to a side view when the blinker is on left, or right.

See if your rear display changes when turning on the blinkers.

Well, I spent an hour in behind the dash, straightened some wires out, searched high and low for a place to plug the lead in, found the camera controller unit but all wires were plugged in and no place for the little gray wire. When heading out on this trip the turn signal cameras did NOT work (they used to).

Also, found the SiriusXM radio receiver, both the antenna lead and the cable to the head unit were plugged in. Plus, when the the head unit is on SiriusXM and the preview propaganda is playing, it shows maximum signal.

I have another symptom that I am also trying to trouble shoot. When I turn the markers on the head unit goes to rear view camera. It takes "possession" of the top monitor. The only way to prevent it is to go into the head unit settings and to turn off rear view. Dizcom put me on to that solution.

Bizarre behavior from the camera, but I am thinking the camera behavior is related to a bad camera control unit nd is not associated with my SiriusXM problems.

Back to the drawing board !
