Slide alignment

Thought I would pass this on in case someone has had a similar problem.

My passenger slide was out of square horizontally by a couple of inches, from right to left. I found out when I noticed that my double bulb seal on the right side of slide opening was torn and hanging and I couldn’t remove it because there was no room. During my search of the forums for a solution I came across Bobby Dowdle of NIRVC, who seemed to know about slide problems. I contacted him and he suggested opening the slide about a foot and wedge a 4-5 ft, 2 x 4, between the opening and the side of slide room and lever it over to try and center it. Well, guess what? IT WORKED, problem solved.
Don’t know why or how it got out of whack, but I now know how to fix it.
Interestingly I was able to slide the new bulb seal on starting from the bottom and pushing it up. Used silicone spray to help

Thanks for posting. I have noticed before that one of the bottom corners may be out a little more than then other side when slides are full closed (less than half an inch), so this may be a solution to square it back up. I can see with the road conditions in some areas that these could move around enough to cause this.

Glad to hear it worked. That’s how they do it at the factory.

Bobby,

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for all you do here on this Forum to help our guests and others out by sharing your knowledge and experience. I really appreciate it, and I truly appreciate you young man! You are a wonderful representation of our brand! Thank you!

For those of you who don’t know, Bobby is one of the original group of 5 technicians I hired back in 2009 to start the company with. He has, and continues, to make the dream a reality. Aside from being extremely talented, Bobby is the embodiment of customer service. I have personally witnessed him drop everything on weekends, evenings, and even on his Father’s Day, to drive hours to help a customer. It’s just how he’s wired, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have him on our team.

I’m thrilled Bobby was able to help you out Larsdad! But, for Bobby, I promise, it was just another day at the office.

Onward,
Brett

Interesting!
Is your work done from outside the coach or from the inside? Do you pry from the bottom of the slide or some other location?
I don't have this problem (yet) but I can envision the slides shifting over time and travel...

Thanks!

I would like to echo Brett's statement and a thank you to Bobby. Bobby got me into NIRVC Nashville on my way to Entegra for my AIM, to do all of my Spartan recalls with the utmost professionalism in one day, start to finish. He never stopped checking on my coach to make sure everything was completed so I could leave in the morning to be on schedule for Entegra. Not only were all of the Spartan recalls completed, he even had a set of Rettrobands installed. What an outstanding person that goes above and beyond for customer satisfaction. Bobby you are outstanding in what you do here on the forum with your expertise, and in real life at your NIRVC location. Thank you!

Jmorse1,
You lever it from the outside. I had a friend at the bottom of slide and I was on a ladder putting pressure on the top.
